I think they both have the Jack-FM irony in their voices. And they both sound like 30-something guys who are a bit cynical about the world and the music. I like them both!
I think Adult Hits stations that don't use Jack-FM's voices are too sterile. The lines the comedy writers contribute, along with Cogan and Anthony's deliveries, makes Jack-FM fun to listen to. For a time, Ben-FM in Philadelphia used the voice of John O'Hurley (Mr. Peterman on Seinfeld). He delivered lines that were a bit sarcastic and ironic. But he was discontinued a couple of years ago.
With the success of Jack, CBS Radio put it on about a dozen of its stations. Some of those were later traded to iHeart (WQSR Baltimore, KJAQ Seattle) and Alpha (KJXK San Antonio). And the Jack format was discontinued in NYC and Chicago. After Entercom took over CBS Radio, it added Jack-like stations in Houston, Boston and San Francisco, but didn't want to pay the licensing fees for Jack. Big 103.3 in Boston seems to use either Cogan or Anthony's voice with similar wisecracks like Jack-FM. But Dave-FM in San Francisco and The Spot in Houston don't go in much for the ironic quips. Too bad.
