Jack getting more press

jack's playlist is 1,200 songs

which equals about a 6 gig ipod. an ipod killer? not even close. and i bet songs 500-1200 are seldom played. jack sucks. jack will die. its a fad.

There are many in the industry that feel the same way. Time will tell.

As for the playlist, I've seen songs repeated within several hours, though not as much as KRTH's legendary rotation. My guess is that about 200 to 250 of the songs in the library are rotated hot, a similar number are rotated slower, and 500 to 600 are in lunar rotations for accent.

I'd have to get a music monitor playlist for about a week to confirm that guess, though.<P ID="signature">______________

Apparently, even Jack stations have their favorite songs that are repeated often.

If you really think about it, EVERY radio format is a fad. Some just last longer than others, but eventually they all morph or change. Today's "full service news" format is nowhere close to what it was when XTRA pioneered it in 1961. AC stations are not the sleepy MOR formats they were even into the late '70s. Even oldies is undergoing a sea change.

Whether Jack is a longterm player or not remains to be seen. But right now it's got people across the nation talking about RADIO again, and that's good for us. Remember, any publicity is good publicity.

(Not in a particularly easy to use format, though)
