JACK GOES OFF THE AIR

Sorry to disappoint those out there with dirty minds <g>, but 103.7 JACK FM is off of the air. Dead carrier as of 6:15 this morning. Too bad the FCC rules about having an operator 24/7 have not kicked in yet.

OLD CHICAGO

All Cumulus stations in the Golden Triangle are off. Just carriers-no audio-and have been since about 3:00 or 3:30 this morning

What, somebody didn't pay the power bill or something ? But in all seriousness, anyone have any idea why this has/might of happened?

Storms might have caused a power outage

Funny - 103.7 sounded great this morning. KOUL - Corpus was booming in like gangbusters. Just like it does every morning in West Houston. Give it up Cumulus - move back to Port Arthur!

Probably wont either; that only a proposal, not a rule.....I doubt it will get put in place....However, for an automated format like Jack, I gotta wonder WHAT happened to the silence sensor???

Jack lost audio last night as well for about 5-10 minutes...right at the end of one of their promos with a guy who kept going on and on and on and on and on and on and (sorry but you gotta feel this! :) on and on and on and on.......about one song/artist (ya know it got soooo obnoxious I forget who/what it was about now...ALL I remember is about 30secs into it, I was thinking "Ok guys, THATS enough of this sh.......) and then the audio died..for a moment I thought it was for effect...and waited for "JACK" to say something....then I realized they had lost audio..either STL or possibly something at the xmtr site (I dont think Jack is running HD is it??? I know 103.7 WAS but guess they dropped it..never heard the carrier drop so it wasnt a power glitch, unless that transmitter is on one smoking UPS!)

103.7 is not a Port Arthur or Beaumont station..upgrade from Willis/Conroe area and licensed to LaPorte (which it covers with city grade but that's it)....Also remember, Cumulus owns 104.1 now...

Speaking of 103.7 . It was a frequency used in Lake Charles for many years for KGRA in the early 80s and KBIU currently, which is now at 103.3.
BTW, CC Beaumont still simulcasting KKMY 104.5 on 103.3 in Beaumont, which is rediculous, esp with another 103.3 Frequency being used for KBIU with the transmitter in Sulphur, LA , which is only 46 miles from Beaumont.

In the Spring and Summer depending on weather conditions here in Houston, 103.7 (the rim-shot waay over near Winnie-ish) is gonna get covered up by KOUL at times here in Houston and especially the west side of town, which can be frustrating if you really dig Jack, which would be wonderful on a Real Houston City Grade signal.

I spoke to Pat Fant.
He told me the hampsters running on the wheel at the transmitter we holding out for more money.

CC was on 103.3 before Cumulus decided to upgrade 103.7 Willis to LaPorte and move KBIU to 103.3....I agree though it is ridiculous....IN Beaumont, you hear KKMY on 103.3...OUTSIDE Beaumont (east of Vidor, south side of Beaumont, etc) you hear KBIU.....with NO problems (in fact KBIU covers better to the west than it does to the East....I lose it by Jennings a lot of times on I10!)...as for KOUL, this has been discussed and rehashed several times on this board, Its old news...
You CAN hear Jack on a City Grade Houston freq..104.1's HD-2 !! As I told Mike_O several times, wishing that the rimshots could move closer to Houston is gonna take an Act of God (literally!).......because the FCC will never allow it.

Everytime I try to go to where they sell HD radios, they are never working or functioning. The stores that sell them have them disconnected. No wonder HD Radio sells are down. If Im gonna buy one, I wanna listen to see how they perform.

I agree with ya....every Best Buy or Circuit City I have been in has NO HDs connected to play (but then I dont visit that often! so that could have changed) Even tried to connect a Sony HD up once...got some strange looks from a salesperson standing next row over...when I finally gave up trying they asked me what I was doing....not buying from this store was my answer...(but HDTVs on the other hand? sure, they got em hooked up and ALL playing away!!)

The HD radio technology will not catch on if that continues. New automobiles should all come with them I think:)

Agreed. I have a HD car stereo sitting in the closet in anticipation of a mounting kit for my 2007 Sentra. I miss having it in the car.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.....

revenge of the jocks.

Silly bean counters. When will you realize jocks are your friends? (I know, you nerds, this was a stick problem, Im just happy about it)
