JACK in JACKson?

Whine? LOL Check the post count there joe, I think YOU need something to do! So what's the bet going to be?

Gregg,You sad man. Rock 92.3 will be a different format by the end of the year. It's going to happen, so get ready. Will you be buying all of us on this forum a steak dinner?

I could care less what they do on 104.The way that "Froggy" has done in Murray, KY differs from some of the drivel I read in a previous post here. They don't even do "Froggy" real well and it is still very popular. I'm not sure Arbitrons are even done there...but still the license plates and stickers are all over West TN.If 94.1 had had signal other than to North MS. It would have kicked KIX butt before, during, AND after I was there. Kix 106 just SUCKED then especially)(BTW-to that smart guy who's the "expert" on Froggy stations..I happen to know that Froggy 94 kicked their butts in the important demos (esp. women) in the afternoons on MANY occasions. In fact, mid-day, afternoons, and nights did it with some regularity in 12-plus) I'd put my "part-timer" skills on the air-even AFTER being out for a long time up-against yours anytime, anywhere, and in any market. and I don't even know who you are)Gregg...I hope they leave 92 alone.(maybe spend some money and get more "live")I'm "Meepster" because I forgot my passwords and such for "MeepMeep".Roger..you gotta guess. We don't really know each other.I hope 92 does not flip to Jack (FM 100 should)If 104 flips to Froggy (and does it right)...Wyn will get their butt busted by it.

Not the bet bro, you said JACK and you made it sound like it's happening right now! Still in?

We had lunch with 2 very nice gentlemen today. One is looking at 104, the other at 92. Seems a shame to hire some right now just so we can fire him after the flip! LOL

I don't think I said right now. They will be JACK (or a Jack type of format. They may be too cheap to pay the franchise fees. they may just do their own version of JACK)This will happen by the fall book. (and it doesn't matter how many t-shirts they've bought or traded out for Rock 92.3)I like OUTBACK steaks.

One half of the new morning team on WTNV will start tomorrow. The other half will start in July. Not sure where Conrad Delaney fits in with all these changes.

Read again "wally" I said; you made it sound like it's happening right now!!!!!So for the bet, if we flip to JACK before the fall book, I'm buying you a steak at Outback. Correct?

This is the same guy that tried to spoof one of MY email adresses for an account on the boards! LOL Admin was VERY intersted in you bro. ;)By the way, the "new guy" coming this week is a temp. Not part of a team. He's helping us out in a pinch and a friend of Mr. Hoppa. Nice guy too. Oh and he doesn't start on mornings tomorrow. He had to get some stuff taken care of back home in Kentucky. I tell you guys if you want to know something just call me, I'll tell ya. It sure would eleminate all this guessing and second and third hand "scuttlebutt".

It's good to know that all the great new jocks at Forever will have plenty of 100% cotton t-shirts to wear.I hope their beefy T's.

Absotively.
(BTW-to that smart guy who's the "expert" on Froggy stations..I happen to know that Froggy 94 kicked their butts in the important demos (esp. women) in the afternoons on MANY occasions. In fact, mid-day, afternoons, and nights did it with some regularity in 12-plus)
Posilutely.Mornings at Froggy 94 wasn't that bad, either--particularly when Judy and Jeremy had that other funny guy in there with them, cranking out the comedy and doing all those incredible impressions... (pausing a moment before laughing at myself).
I'd put my "part-timer" skills on the air-even AFTER being out for a long time up-against yours anytime, anywhere, and in any market. and I don't even know who you are)
Well, I know who the Meepster is, and I'd pay him enough to lure him back on the air if I had a station. His skills are top drawer, both on the air and in the production room. (If I'm paying you so much, Meep, you know you're not getting out of doing production, right?)
Gregg...I hope they leave 92 alone.(maybe spend some money and get more "live")
Amen!
I hope 92 does not flip to Jack (FM 100 should)
Say amen!
If 104 flips to Froggy (and does it right)...Wyn will get their butt busted by it.
Can I get a witness!?All this talk is making me want to move the family back to Jackson! ;)--Mike

Being in NW TN, Where WYN and Froggy (Murray) overlap, has anyone cared to check who is getting their butt busted?I am not in radio any longer, but I have ears I would welcome another Frog if I were WYN. Consistancy pays and that isone thing you get from them. Quality beats gimmicks any day.

well I have a question... why should wyn worry about Froggy kicking their butts... hasn't Eagle been doing that since the "old days" of Roger and Jared... last time i checked (I might be wrong again) Eagle was second only to Kix96 in the Jackson Metro. and by the way... Greg is right... Look I'm still on the Eagle today... and about Conrad... believe me he will fit in exactly where he wants to.... and be happy for it.

If this looks too long to you...DON'T READ IT!I AM in NW TN (or close) and I'd like to know upon what you base the claim that the Murray Froggy is doing so badly. Are there Arbitrons or some type of ratings results that you are using? Are they placing books in Como, Pinson,Three-way, Medina, Puryear, Skunk Hollow and McLemoresville now? We have to remember, that when it comes to a station's popularity and listenership, the opinions of people like ourselves do not amount to a hill of beans. It doesn't matter what you think of a station or what I think of a station. It matters what the public thinks of a station. If you have ratings results of some sort to back up the opinion you've shared, then we can listen. If not...Mr. Bratton...There's no doubt that that morning show had its moments. They would have been in much worse trouble had you not been there to add some actual talent.(and YOUR production always stood for itself) Jeremy certainly had a "Devil may care" attitude and was not afraid to do or try anything. Jeremy..."Jock-wise" No...."Wild Boys-wise" Yes. Judy was certainly adequate, but they had trouble going against Andy and Debbie for cryin' out loud.Where we did have strong signal (North MS.) we beat them often, but in the major Memphis area...(in the areas where most books landed, anyway) the lack of signal hurt. If you could have put two equal strength towers side-by-side and put our programming on one and theirs on the other, 94.1 would have had more listeners..period.Enough of that.My original post was concerning 92.3 FM. I don't know the company that owns it now, and I've recently celebrated 5 years out of full-time radio by choice (and IN TO actual money), and now I'm just a listener. (Although a tad hipper to radio stuff than the average listener) So now I am free to listen to whatever I want. Here's what I listen to when my cd player is not going (my presets)And I live in an area where I can pick up the major Memphis stations, too.92.3-Jackson- Usually AFTER John Boy & Billy..although they have some great stuff.(It's the MUSIC man...we all seem to forget that too often.)98.1-Memphis-An occasional listen to the chick from WYNU and Randi trying to get all the male listeners fired up with implied "lesbo" action. They are trying so hard to be so sexy...it's amusing! (and sometimes sexy!)100.1-Dyersburg-Actually, it's for my Paul Harvey fix. I only hear it other times by accident when I left it on.That "puker" dude just kills me.99.7-Memphis-I do usually enjoy what I hear on "Whatever" weekends; and I'm an FM100 hater from waaay back.(I NEVER listen during the week---especially mornings!!!GAG!!!)Heeeeeeeeeyyyyy!Mr&Mrs Blah, blah!102.7-Memphis-But NEVER during the mornings (Yawn)...I think Melody Meadows is really really good.(Better than even Leslie Wolf...and SHE was for real!)103.1-Jackson-I hope they leave this one alone, too-although the same oldies do come up pretty often. Not as if anyone cares, but there you go. I've seen others post theirs, so what the heck.Kix96 (SuperWolf) has been a ratings behemoth since the Q-102 days. I doubt that anyone will ever beat them in overall ratings in Jackson. It's as if they had some sort of magical advantage or something. Enjoy and type away!

It's comical reading about the signal issues for Froggy in Memphis. If Froggy is such a great image to have, and the listeners are so passionate about it, wouldn't they still list it in their diaries. I've been told that listeners will deal with a marginal signal just to listen to a "Froggy" because it's so great. It will be interesting to see what happens with Froggy in Jackson. I guess if it does as well as all of you all predict it will, maybe WSIX will flip to Froggy. Apparently, it can't lose. "Froggy 98, with Gerry Hopper and the Hopper Foundation each morning."

That wasn't just the Froggy concept, Mr. Astute. It was the fact that 94.1 sounded better than Kix106 then.Graceland Joe? Have you ever stood before a crowd of near 20,000 people, introducing the top two current country artists in the world in concert and seen hundreds of your station's banners, t-shirts, and bumper stickers being waved throughout the crowd? Yeah...I guess nobody listens to a "Froggy" station. The remark you made about WSIX proves your ignorance on this subject.I bet programmers all over would love the chance to program against you. Are you now, or have you ever been a programmer? I kind of doubt that, too.I'm not pushing the "Froggy" idea to anyone.I could care less what they do to 104.I just want them to leave 92.3 alone. Moreso the music than anything else.In Memphis, there is only one country station vying for ratings and agency dollars. Listen carefully,A good country station on 94.1 (or wherever with a decent signal in the market) would still give 106 a run. They are complacent, lazy, and vulnerable.Play good modern country songs, mix in classic oldies (not back to Ferlin Husky or anything, though)Spot on imaging, shut the jocks up except for live pertinent information (keep it local)and play more music than Kix does.Somebody will do that before too long in Memphis and have good ratings.Lord knows the ratings crown (except for urban) is up for grabs in that market.Graceland Joe? Are you Sirrius?

The staff that made Eagle 104 second in the Jackson metro is no longer there as is painfully obvious when you listen to the station. The momentum in the market is definetly with the Thomas Media stations. Not just with the listeners but with the advertisers.

Well, actually it is quite easy to pull numbers from those communities mentioned above with TSA and the software. I can't quote actual numbers because most real programmers know that is illegal...but I do know what they are and Froggy is not even close.Your point about what listeners feel and how they respond are quite valid however. Obviously the feckless poster is a greenie, because any programmer worth their salt knows that ratings ARE important....BUT.....RESULTS AND REVENUE are what makes a station a real winner. (Take the same feckless''s own argument about 92.3 a few pages back:) )From what I am hearing, these new stations revenue is laughable. As far as the country battle, 104 has great listeners, but WIN seems to have fans.

You're telling me that you can pull numbers from Puryear and Como, TN?I'd like very much to know how many Arbitron books landed in those two towns. While you're at it, show me Frogjump, Curve, and Arp, too.If you get caught "pulling" these numbers, I'll pay your fine AND buy you a nice steak dinner. Not just an "Outback" steak or something...I'll buy it at a real restaurant with cloth tablecloths and no peanuts on the floor.Just show me the ratings breakdowns (with demos) for these cities, and it's yours.(This is fun!)
