When did 96.3 flip to JACK??? Gawd, they sounded like crap Thursday....was up there all day and their audio was up and down....MOSTLY UP and hot/distorted......
100.1 blows 96.3 away quality wise....but then just about any FM in Lufkin did Thursday!
 
I'm saddened to see yet another satellite station.
 
I noticed 96.3 running JACK :-\ on wensday about noon. The signal is not that great but carried all the way to the north side of nacogdoches but was fading quick. I don't think that they will last long. Every format that has been put on that frequency by that company has flopped.
 
After hearing the audio, I can understand WHY!!! About 10:30am Thursday, someone evidently was playing with the audio...it would go dead, then barely there, then HOT level and then back down again......and I have a radio system on the same tower as 96.3...I get better range than they do as a Class A!!! GEESH.....If I would have had time, I would gone over to the site and told whoever was monkeying with it to hire a REAL engineer (like ME) and get it fixed.....but it is GAWD awful sounding last I heard...nothing like 103.7 out of Houston or 103.3 out of Lake Charles...

I have been taught by/worked with some of the best (worked for ABC, CC as well as others) and all my work has been quality......as for know it all? nope.......but I can sure make a station sound better than what they have right now...Why dont you get over yourself?? Ever put a 100KW Class C on the air by yourself??? Probably not...been there, done it more than once....and am a audio puirst :) I KNOW what sounds like crap....and 96.3 JACK sounds worse than that.....NOW smart boy, go put your headphones back on and go play DJ....you probably never have wired an XLR I bet...

I share your lack of patience with today's crop of young smart-ass DJ's who think they invented radio, and who look down on all those faceless others whose work keeps them and their stations on the air.

Faceless others like engineers. Who needs those old geezers anyway?

I encountered a jock once who started screaming and yelling at the engineer because the engineer couldn't just wave a magic wand and make the board start working right again. He was calling him all kinds of names, so the engineer just put his tools back in his tool box, told the idiot to fix it himself and walked out.

He refused to even go into the control room until the jock came to him and apologized.

The company, yes....some of the people were great...but management was terrible (ABC was not bad..CC on the other hand)....I learned from the best there....Like Lark Hadley (now VP Egr of Premiere) and others...better than a lot of the idiots out there doing it now (and getting half of the normal salary because they want it...but then they have twice the stress and three times the stations...nope, not for me anymore....)...I have built many stations, cleaned many screw ups of other engineers, etc.....something I doubt YOU ever do....ever BEEN an engineer?? NO? [EDIT] Ive never been a jock at KHJ but know some of them...[EDIT]...THEY were pros!!!
