Jack is Back

Praise the Lord!! ;D Got a website?100.9 reaches McComb so when I go home I will listen to Jack..
 
It is very ironic that 100.9 switched to Jack and 94.7 switched to Klove. Backyard Broadcasting should have done the deal from the getgo and not wait for the radio people to do the switch.
 
From what I get from the 94.7 Jackfm Fan Club page on facebook, the version of Jackfm they have is the Dial Global satellite version. So everything is going to be from a sat feed.
 
It is. Howard Cogan (the voice of Jack) gives out an 800 number. It's OK, but I much prefered the Jack that we had on 94.7 since it was local and had a wider variety of music. The satellited Jack is more 70s/80s rock-based, like the CBS-run Jack stations.
 
They said the DJ who was once on 94.7 couldn't get a 3 year commitment from the Radio People so he could come back. Meanwhile those who wished the Pig would have stayed around were very disappointed.
 
Jack has a very low spot load for commercials. I've heard only two per hour. New South could very well be susidizing them from their other stations. How do other satellited Jacks survive?

Why then lease a station? It makes little sense to go into something where you know you are going to lose money?

I recall when 94.7 went to Jack FM they ran no commercials for quite a while. Eventually commercials were added. Does not that seem like a more likely scenario than losing money at 100.9 and taking funds from profitable stations? After all AM 780 is all ready being "subsidized."
 
I did some research on Sparknet, the company that licenses Jack FM. It seems as if they can actually customize Jack for each market, so maybe 100.9 won't be stuck to just being a satellite-fed station after all.
 
I did hear an advertisement for new sales reps for the Radio People. It even mentioned them adding a new radio station to the group, which is why they're hiring.
