Interesting! I am surprised they upgraded 103.9 first given it's a smaller signal but I am guessing they likely had to replace its transmitter or something so it made sense to lite up IBOC (HD)? I noticed outside of iHeart not really many folks are doing things with their HD transmissions. I believe Sunny for example is in HD but they last I checked did not have any thing on a sub channel.
This could be crazy but not out of the realm... Wonder if they upgraded 103.9 to HD to place WMNI's audio on HD-2 so they can feed the 95.1 translator via that HD-2 and eventually shut down the AM? (Not unheard of being done). Does anyone know if NABCO owns the land that WMNI-AM sits on near Grove City? I can see that being prime development real estate.
