JACK is rock/ac based

Tuning into JACK sporadically it would seem to me that JACK is not as diverse musically as I thought it was. They seem very "unrhythmic" based to say the least. Might this change with time? In addition JACK seems to be very AC oriented. It seems strange to me that there is really a market for the format in NYC. I'll be really curious to see what kind of numbers it pulls in.

Yeah there seems to be a bit too much hard rock for me. The other Jack stations I've heard seem to cover more obscure 80s tracks than Jack 101.1. Leave it to NYC radio and Infinity to screw it up.

The music on Jacks are all tweaked for each market. For example, KCBS-FM features a lot of the 80's New Wave that was big on sister KROQ back then.

101.1 so far has strayed from most Rhythmic cuts for one important reason, you'll hear them on WNEW!
______________

Good observation... Although they did play Tone Loc once or twice...

Interestingly, I have yet to hear a Britney Spears song - or a New Kids on the Block song, for that matter...
______________
