Jack Knows Road Sign Stunts

http://www.myfoxchicago.com/dpp/new...i-sign-lake-shore-drive-stunt-delays-20100802

I read about it in today's TRI. I would never think that CBS - one of the more responsible radio companies - would stoop to this level.

For them to do this, it can only mean one thing: it's a precursor to a format flip. It's gotta be. Why else would they have organized something like this, but attention? You never hear a lot about Jack-FM. Maybe that will be the stick that CBS puts AM 670's sports format on. We'll find out in due time.

Yep:

And in all honesty, I had no inside information whatsoever; my point was, it is not likely for CBS to "reach" like this without some return. (In Chi-Jack's case, it was for publicity; now that Chi-Jack is on the radar for a few minutes...)

And it seems as if the "Jack" franchise is wearing out its welcome with CBS. When CBS moved the "Jack-FM" format from the main signal of WCBS-FM in New York to their HD2 channel, the name stuck for another year or so until they dropped the name and called it "Tony," citing fees that had to be paid to the trademark holder of the "Jack" name.

Months ago, there was an entire "Jack" section on the CBS Radio Player; now, you can find them all lumped under the "specialty stations" section - all six of them... well, six going on five...

Immature stunt? Yes. Funny? Actually, yes, IMO.

Hopefully Jack got all the attention it needed... if not, hit the road Jack, and say hello to 104.3 The Score ;)

I think it's a brilliant stunt. And if I had been a competitor, I'd be giving JACK major props. YOU ALL NOTICED and when did you post about another music station in Chicago being cool, crazy,
innovative? Ha!

DtotheJ? Immature is radio. Stoop to this level? YES! Everyday, when radio was radio. I hope, of all people, you haven't been bitten by the corporate suits??? You know good marketing when you see it.

Sadly, I think it's one of the best stunts IN YEARS. That's what is painful. Cause it's not "that" good. There's just nothing to compare it too. ;D

Mr. Gary Wall and the team should be celebrating with La Gorce. Inside joke.

I didn't say that the stunt itself was immature, but rather, my point was that seeing CBS embark in this stunt was just so very "un-CBS" of them, so to speak...

Then again, this is the same radio company that brought us "Free-FM"...
