JACK-- not!

O

OldiesCat

Guest
Several weeks ago, some of your lads down there were all but promising a JACK
flip being imminent.

What happened? What's the latest? All of a sudden, there's zero buzz on Jack in Mickeyland.

Jack loves barbecues...4th of July barbecues. Jack didn't want to have a party until the Spring Arbitron was complete, and so he could hit his 3rd quarter budget... love, Jack!

oh, no-not again!

Exactly what I'm talking about-- we heard all that smarmy B.S. before.
Where's the beef?

r u ornery cause the Piston's lost?

I'm

not 'ornery' at all (disappointed, heck yeah- we'll get 'em back tonight.
I HOPE I HOPE I HOPE I HOPE).

You're missing it, cat - this "jack loves this, jack doesn't want to do that" garbage is what the kiddies have been posting for over a month, almost guaranteeing the JACK format would be on down there at any moment. Of course, it's not happened as they were so sure of, so I asked, "what's up with the certainty about JACK" and the little goobers re-appear with the same smarmy stuff.

Re: Give it a rest

Oldiescat... How 'bout you step away from radio-info for a bit and give it a rest. Your absurd amount of posts on this site thinking you know the ins and outs of so many stations and formats is getting tiring. Radio-Info can manage how they want and delete this flame if they choose. I don't really give a damn... but when Mix goes Jack and WMMO takes a dump, you can eat... well, I'll leave it at that. Let me know when you actually live in and listen to Orlando radio and then I'll listen to your comments.

Give THIS a rest

If you don't "give a damn", as you say, then what's your point? I wasn't aware we could only post on certain boards, depending on where we live.

(Hilarious <LMAO> I'm getting preached to by a nut who once posted with an "I'm drunk and I'm posting" subj line. And we're supposed to take YOU seriously?).

JACK-FM, in every case in the U.S. that I have witnessed, has come in without warning. That's been the case from NYC to Jackson, MS. Speculation is fun, but the reality is that when/if it happens, it won't be hinted at or tipped ahead of time.

With that in mind, take rumors on this board, or any other, of the JACK-FM brand of Variety Hits "coming soon" to whichever market is being discussed with a major grain of salt.<P ID="signature">______________

if you take a closer look when searching radiofan13's posts, he/she was responding to a post within the "I'm drunk and posting" subject line... notice the "re:" in front of the subject

I will say OldiesCat posts a lot. He/she joined in January and has way over 1000 posts already. I'll admit, I need a life too, but OldiesCat has too much time on his/her hands. Also, I'm tired of you (oldiescat) always acting like you know everything. It is annoying. You don't know everything. <P ID="signature">______________

really?

There are many on R.I. who have more postings than I. And there are a lot of bright, motivated people all over these boards who aren't so P.C. they hide behind flowery "hope-I-don't-offend-anybody" language. I praise enlightened
and informed opinion often and I don't worry about those who can't handle radio truths. I never engage in "board rage" (many do), I don't use foul langugage and am within R.I. rules.

Am I direct? Do I push "the envelope"? Absolutely. What's ironic is that radio people constantly whine about Management being too P.C. and too often less- than-truthful. Many times I've said I DO NOT know everything and don't pretend that I do. All I speak of are radio truths and realities. I never take any of this personally and am not out to get everyone (nor anyone, really) to agree with me. This board is supposed to be for the discussion of Radio issues and challenges.

According to you, I should be less passionate and less informed about how radio works. No disrespect intended, but forget it.

Apologies for the personal attack.

Re: really?

there are two references you made about radio truths in your last post. it is this attitude that diminshes your credibility. if i want radio truths, i'll talk to an engineer about the physics of RF. programming is far from absolute, it ain't rocket science.

i don't have a problem with non-PC attitudes. i love it. however, i wouldn't call your commentary non-PC. can't say there is anything offensive about your posts. quite frankly i recall your offense at another's post that inferred payola plays a role in programming decisions. the comment was not PC, and not directed at anyone specific, yet you took offense at someone's opinion. when several posters start making similar comments about the tone of your posts, its time for a little introspection. to disagree with another's opinion is the beauty of a board like this. support your arguments by citing references, not by claiming you know the truth or saying you need to "call someone out" (a phrase you used in a previous post) that sounds rather aggressive. lighten up. think before you post.

by the way... some may consider as naive your respose to all the trolls posting about JACK coming to orlando. (not YOU, your RESPONSE) they're just trying to get a reaction. looks like they succeeded.

thanks

for the analysis and suggestion for "a little introspection". I am very
comfortable with who I am, thanks.

We all have our own style and character. As that great and highly respected poet Sylvester Stone once said, "different strokes for different folks".
My "tone" isn't for everybody and that's fine. I'm comfortable that most
radio pros understand (even if they don't agree with) my perspectives.

Anyone want to know Scott Mackenzie's real last name?

Sure...give it up...
