Anyone know if there is a Jack (or Bob, etc) on AM??? Just curious....would almost be like an old Top40 of the 70s and may work.....

No chance. Other than some out-of-the-way town with 3 signals, radio listeners will not to go AM for music in any kind of numbers. Oh, there may be the occasional Nostalgia or country gold station on an AM, but I think most of us are in this business to do more than pull a 2 share on an AM.

You obviously haven't been watching Citadel or Crumulus' FM (yes - FM) numbers lately, OC! They ass-pireto great numbers above 2 --- hehehe! They seem to be happy with garbage numbers ...

Go ahead & put Jack on AM. Like the old big band format, it's the final move of a format that's dead.

The "Jack" format wouldn't be dead if they took better care of it by hiring personalities.

For about a year, there was JOE 880 up north. They moved it to the FM after they got permission from the CRTC.

Up North eh? Yeah, that would be Edmonton's Cool 880, which fliped to "Radio for the average Joe who loves mono" the new Joe 880. (relaunched as Cool 880 oldies again when Joe went to FM)

It was an effort to do more than just oldies and play hit music in general that was recorded in mono back in the day.

Then, without needing CRTC permission at all, they chose to move Joe to FM and do a "true" VH format. One that includes the hits that were recorded in stereo.

There's a station I listen to on AM that has the format of a Jack and even has the call letters of a Jack, KXJK AM 950, (Forrest City, AR) but they do not use the "Jack" name. I think that's as close as you're gonna get.

If the personalities fit the format and are witty and irreverent. Just putting in a bunch of boilerplate liner card readers and pukers will do nothing for it and could even kill it for real.
