A More Fitting step back would be to bring back Harry Harrison, Randy Davis,Dan Daniel, Bill Brown, Bob Shannon and Bobby Jay for the day and have them play oldies Just as WCBS FM sounded on 9/11/2001.
Now thats what I am talking about....Just seeing those names and thinking about hearing their voices just one more time, with that CBS fm echo, gave me chills down my spine.Talk about patriotism, nothing more american than the old cbs fm and all those legends.God we miss all you guys....I hope Jack dies a slow agonozing death and the suits that killed cbs-fm will one day get theirs.GOD BLESS CBS-FM AND GOD BLESS AMERICA

OK THAT'S showing real "Maturity." Moving away from what "JACK" decided to do yesterday and on to the folks running CBS Radio and calling for their demise. What makes YOU better than one of the murderers on 9/11. Get over your own personal hostility towards "JACK", the station that stole YOUR MUSIC, and seek some therapy instead of wishing ill on others whether or not you agree with their decisions.

Before I catch all the "Who died and made you Board Operator" comments, I am merely stating MY opinion just like EVERY OTHER poster on this board. If you don't agree with what I just posted...I am here to defend my comments without utilizing the "death card."

What is wrong with you??? I never wished death on anybody. The demise of a radio station is what I said, meaning the station as a whole..not a human. And as far as the suits I meant they need that ''were making some changes around here'' speech and shown the door just like they do to other peoples lives.I am not even a huge oldies fan,it was just the way it was done.CBS FM was an NY Tradition. And you cant fault the 25 yr old suit who decided it,The blame falls on the CEO who allowed it to happen.Just like no one wanted to be the one to fire Johnny Carson,so they let him retire with dignity .The were two other do-nothing frequencies that could have been used and left CBS on.What about 102.7..it is practically nonexistent. Why not take one of the strongest signals in NY and use that for Jack. What do they play this month anyway....102.7 I mean..what is there format this month??? How can you equate comments about a radio station to the 911 murderers, guess it shows your intelligence....This whole debacle is a dead issue,I just had to respond to a genius who makes a comaprison like that.

....I hope Jack dies a slow agonozing death....Look what I wrote Genius...Jack is a station not a person.....what a freak!!!!!

Call me what you will but enjoy your 45's, 8 Tracks, Cassettes, and even CD's to hear your "OLD F#$%" music. CBS-FM as we ALL knew it is GONE!!! NOTHING will bring it back and certainly NOT CBS Radio. Put the notion and hatred for how it ALL ENDED to sleep. For god sakes.

Oh yeah and thanks for the compliment! I haven't been called a genius yet this week until today...and it's ONLY Tuesday.

Also let's not forget the original point of the post about how "professionally" Jack was handling the tragedy. SOMEONE or SOME PEOPLE attempted to turn it into an "act of exploitation!" Cut me a break! If Howard Cogan and CBS-FM carried on in their normal fashion there would have been cause for complaints too! Ricky Nelson once said it best, "You can't please everyone so you got to please yourself." Perhaps you should go do that. It just might relieve some of the hostility. Is there a Duane Reede near you ;-)

let arbitron speak for the public opinion. none of u are experts and who really cares. freedom of speech, and freedom of expression....isn't that why we all live here. No one is exploiting the horrific events of 9/11...its just another way to express music. on a another note...

are any of you on the board out there programming or radio execs? i'd like to hear your success stories...not just the backseat driving.

U said it all Housemusic...your the man!!!! Personally I dont think that dude thinks or even hoped that CBS FM comes back,he like me is just incensced on how it was handled.Business is Business yes,but what about a little decency in front of the business. One 24 hour period to say goodbye from the jocks with call Ins and in studio guests, that is a great thing.WYNY said goodbye that way,I think maybe Evergreen was in charge back then and allowed a no holes barred non commercial goodbye from the staion personell to the fans.It was very tearful but was also a great closure. The CBS creatins gave no closure to the fans of the jocks at CBS FM.
