Bridge Ratings: "Jack" Listeners Rate The Format

Bridge asked listeners to make lists of all the elements that make listening to "Jack" stations appealing, and then rate each element on a scale of one-to-ten, with one being least appealing and ten most appealing. The "Jack" Format Asset Appeal results (see chart below) show that the primary appeal is the variety of musical genres heard on the format. It also shows that long sets of music is the least important reason to listen, while lack of news, sports or weather was not a hinderence to the format. The study also shows that -- where the format's been on for more than nine months -- TSL has declined slightly, with 23 percent of those calling "Jack" their favorite station listening less than they did initially, 10 percent listening more and 67 percent listening about the same amount of time.

"Jack" Format Asset Appeal
1. Music Genre Variety 9.4
2. Minimal Talk 8.9
3. Music Familiarity 8.1
4. Potential For Music Surprises 7.6
5. Station Attitude/Humor 6.9
6. No Announcers 6.2
7. Lack of News, Weather, Sports or Traffic 5.9
8. Perception of Fewer Commercials 5.0
9. No Contesting 4.7
10.Long Sets of Music 3.9

Jack says it's getting "Sunny" outside...

No, but he should. Seriously, Jack should compete with the number one billing station (eh hem..Lite-FM) in order to get more ratings. I know someone previously said a mix of 60's, 70's, 80's....but then that would compete w/ MIX?

I do believe Infinity will stick it out, even if it gets ugly..with this format. It was a big investment to blow up CBS-FM and do Jack.
