Jack vs Movin'

I'm interested in hearing why people frequently post that Movin' will hurt Jack. Seems to me that the rhythmic format Movin' has is quite different than 90% of what Jack plays. Is it simply because both formats feature multiple decades? I can't see the listeners that listen to Jet and Bad Company have that much to do with those who listen to Alicia Keys and Sister Sledge -- particularly anyone who's stuck with Jack for this amount of time. Any early curiosity-seekers are probably long gone from Jack and all that's left are those who really like the variety of pop and rock -- with an occasional OutKast/etc song -- that gets played on Jack. I look for KUBE and KBKS to be affected most by Movin' 92.5.

Neither can hurt each other or anyone else for that matter. Both will be gone or modified next year.

Watch for 'JACK' to fall and thus become history within 2 years...JACK is already hurt!

Me = Listener (Non-industry guy). I like JACK, but have been listening to Movin since Monday. I like the JACK music format, but miss live hosts, therefore my listening times are usually in the middle of the day as background music. My listening of Movin will drop if they don't get good hosts for the morning and evening drives soon. And PLEASE Movin, drop the "feel good" slogan (the ad agency that came up with that obviously did that at the end of the day after all their other work). My opinion is that if I want to listen to music without listening to hosts, I will stream online OR listen to an iPod. I listen to airwaves radio for music and the hosts that entertain me. I listen to commercials on airwaves radio because I get the entertainment value of the hosts. If I only want to hear music, why would I listen to the commercials of airwaves radio, when I can listen to commercial-free online or on my iPod? I hope you radio people are listening, my opinion is pretty similar to the opinions of the people I know.

Movin' sounds like a Live 365 station (www.live365.com) WITH commercials. Indeed a couple of strong jocks are going to be essential. Oh...wait a minute. There AREN"T any strong jocks out there. They went back to the car wash because the pay was better.

Def of STRONG JOCK now?

>>>> There AREN"T any strong jocks out there! They went back to the car wash because the pay was better......or they're still living off the tax dollars...:)Locally, who would be considered a 'strong jock' now anyway?

There are two things going against Jack right now:1. The novelty has worn off2. They aren't on TV as much as they were a year ago.

If you think that Movin will hurt KUBE or Kiss, think again. Kool & The Gang's "Celebration," Jane Child's "Don't Wanna Fall In Love" and Whitney 'Rehab' Houston's "How Will I Know" are not songs that are going to draw KUBE folks away from 50 Cent, Sean Paul and Bubba Sparx.Give credit where credit is due; KLSY needed to do something. There will be plenty of tire-kickers through their TV campaign. But as a whole, the station sounds like a train wreck.

well they will take all the old listeners that listened to those stations in the 80's and 90's

Nope. Those listeners grew up, got a life and listen to Star, The Mountain or KWJZ.

Actually I think there are a lot of women who are moving to Movin'. We'll see how long it sticks, but in my "circle" I have multiple coworkers and friends who are white, 25-35 year old women who listened primarily to KUBE but didn't like the true rap end of the spectrum and have switched over. As for me, I've been listening off and on just out of morbid curiosity and checking in to see if they have brought on personalities yet. Overall the music is not bad but would never be my full-time appetite. OK for a pick-me-up when I want something upbeat which, frankly, isn't that often. I do have to say that they need to dig a little deeper into the music library. As I said, I haven't been listening with any kind of regularity and still I have already heard Michael Jackson's "Billy Jean" FOUR times in the last week! Good grief, people. It was cool the first time- it "took me back" as they say. But now I want to hear "Beat It" or "Thriller" or something but they keep coming back to "Billy Jean." And I have to say that, after FOUR TIMES IN A WEEK, Billy Jean is NOT MY LOVER.
