Jack Whitaker, CBS & ABC sports broadcaster, dies at 95

He died at his home in Pennsylvania of natural causes.

He spent close to 40 years with CBS Sports, broadcasting just about every sport that aired on the network, including the first Super Bowl in 1967 (he was the last surviving broadcaster) and Secretariat's Triple Crown in 1973. He later joined ABC, where he was part of the 1984 and '88 Olympics broadcast teams. He was also a contributor to ABC News' Nightline and World News Tonight.

RIP, Jack. He was one of the all-time greats.

Jack Whitaker was an outstanding sportscaster. I watched the first Super Bowl and I remember Ray Scott doing the game and I thought Pat Summerall was with him. After I checked I learned that Whitaker and Scott were the announcers on CBS-TV and Summerall was a sideline announcer. The memory fades a bit after all these years.

RIP Jack Whitaker
