The funniest part of the site is the DON'T CLICK HERE, takes you to JOB OPPORTUNITIES. Perhaps you'd like to scrub toilets for CBS radio?

Actually, in your quickness to click the "Don't Click Here" area, you must have scrolled over the "Contact Jack" link which brought up a submenu that offers a "Contact" and "Job Opportunities" link. If you avoid that and directly click on "Don't Click Here," then you get a page that brings you the "Jack-FM Top 5" (sort of like the Dave Letterman Top Ten List). That was an example of poor web navigation placement and strategy.

The rest of the site seems to be okay, but perhaps I'm biased because the station just doesn't do anything for me. Then again, I'm in the lower end of the station's target demo anyway.

Actually, you're really in the meat of their target demo, it's kind of like B96, they market as one thing while selling as another. I don't think you're 25 but I could be wrong.

Maybe Joel Hollander can do that once he extracts his foot from
his mouth. Remember Hollander pronounced the oldies format to be
DOA? Well, last night, for the first time in my memory of 94.7,
WZZN aired a seven-minute stopset in the 7PM hour. I guess Scott
Shannon`s True Oldies Channel is doing rather well for itself?
Of course, some of those ads were geared to a 50+ listener, but
they still bring in cash for the ABC/Citadel coffers. Of course,
Hollander hates those older demographics and would prefer that
the senior members of the listening audience just pass away and
stop ruining his introductory course in Radio 101.

Now, we wouldn't replace you. You're doing a fine job. :p

Hollander and Karmazin are like Poison and Cinderella, they're really the same band in drag. Another clown in radio that has people humping their leg to be near them and yet when you look at their stock's performance... it's a real drag. But at least their cronies take the company to the bank in the first 12 months before it all falls to pieces. Neither men are worthy of a dog lifting it's leg to them let alone praise unless of course you just don't know any better.

At what spot rate? The sign of a failing ofrmat is often lots of cheap spots, because they can not sell any at high rates.

Number of spots is no sign of profitability. Too many spots is usually a sign of being desperate.

That must explain why for the past several years WKQX has had up to 15min stopsets at times.
______________

Clear Channel must have been REALLY desperate before its "Less is More" (or whatever they called it) campaign to reduce commerical spots.

Let`s not forget 94.7 is the single greatest underperforming
signal in the Chicago metro area. There were times during the
ZONE`s tenure as an active rock station where the stopsets were
under five minutes in length and consisted of tattoo parlors,
strip clubs, sexual performance enhancers and public service
ads. That reaked of desperation to me.

There`s still a chance when the transfer of ownership from
Disney to Citadel becomes final later this year that Citadel
will take 94.7 in a different direction, but I bet that`s not
the slam-dunk decision it was a year ago? It will be interesting
to see where WZZN finishes in the Trend report out tomorrow?

Perhaps. I'm 34. If I'm in the "meat" of their target demo, then they are not doing a good job with me. Most of the library and "gold" songs I hear on Jack-FM just doesn't appeal to me. And I can't seem to be able to listen to the station for more than 15 minutes before they play a song that makes me switch to another. For better variety, I'd rather listen to my MP3s.

Honestly, without peeking at ratings data and by just listening to the station I can't really figure out who they are really trying to target. Maybe my music tastes are too different. And no, dance music is NOT the only genre I listen to and enjoy. I grew up listening mostly to BMX, Z95, and B96.
______________

But you gotta admit- it's different and really stands out.

Part of the whole package.

Seeing that's likely your current job, we must consider our source.

Or as some like to call it, "Screw the Listener." There's a reason why CC did the "Less is More" initiative on cutting down stop sets, emphasizing :30s and making spots more listenable.
