Jackcensorship

Yesterday I was listening to Jack-FM, and they played "Money" by Pink Floyd...

Now as everyone knows, this song has the following verse:

"Money, get back.
I’m all right jack keep your hands off of my stack.
[Money, it’s a hit.
Don’t give me that do goody good bulls****.]
I’m in the high-fidelity first class traveling set
And I think I need a lear jet."

Now, I could understand if they just bleeped out the s-bomb. But
they edited out that whole line that I bracketed above!

Considering that about a week ago, they played Alanis Morissette's
"You Oughta Know" mostly untouched (with just a reverse-bleep
on the "f-word")....seems strange to me!

Maybe whoever did the edit couldn't bleep just the one word without making a mess of it?

I know that, over at Westwood One, their classic rock format has pulled the song from rotation completely (the PD, Jeff Gonzer, lamented having to do so in an interview on LARadio.com).<P ID="signature">______________

A lot of times, the edited versions comes from an outside service, like TM Century, and they aren't exactly consistent with their standards of what should be edited and how.

For years, every time I've heard the Who's "Who Are You," the "who the f--- are you" line has been untouched. Go figure.

KM,
104.1 in Modesto plays a version where it is edited to say "bullsh[vocal cut]".

I have used Cool Edit Pro and you can edit the vocal clean with no drop in the music. I was surprised consider the age of the song. Must have a clean separate vocal track.

"Who Are You" should be an easy one to edit since the line "who the hell are you" is also in the song and although I've never tried to do it, it should be easy to copy and paste it in to replace the offending lyric line shouldn't it?

Easier than that, actually. MCA issued a promo edit of the "Who Are You" album for airplay. You can easily get one off eBay for about $8.

Strange. Over here in Phoenix we have The Peak, which I have been told is identical to Jack, and they leave the line in and just edit the S-bomb (the heritage rock station here plays it intact, however.)
