I took a history of TV/radio course in college years ago. The professor who taught the class spent the better part of one class period talking about the "greatest hour of live television" in the history of the medium. It was this broadcast of Jackie Gleason apologizing to the American people for a horrendously bad game show he'd hosted the week before.

I never thought I see this, truly TV history. Enjoy.
