Jackie Kennedy Tapes- ABC News Special

This should be a very interesting program considering some of the comments already published as to what Jackie Kennedy thought of certain individuals. However I see this more as an effort by Caroline Kennedy to keep the bogus Camelot myth alive by publishing this book.

I take exception to the negative comments made about Eisenhower. A large number of historians who labeled "IKE" as a do-nothing president had a much more positive opinion of the man after reading some of his private papers. IMHO Eisenhower was a better president than Kennedy. Granted Kennedy did not survive his first term in office, and the only reason his civil rights legislation ever passed was because of LBJ.

Speaking of LBJ, it's very interesting the comments credited to JFK by his widow as to Jack Kennedy's thoughts about the possibility of Johnson becoming president in 1968.

JFK was a charismatic disaster.

Ike was a beloved war-hero but ineffective president.

What was bogus about it? The term Camelot wasn't used until after JFK died.

Eisenhower had two full terms and eight years. Kennedy had less than three years. Someone decided to end his Presidency early.

Eisenhower was a better military officer than Kennedy, and just about everyone else.

Kennedy and his "bogus" Camelot round tablers prevented World War III right when we were literally within one Executive Order from going to nuclear solutions. If you ask me, preventing a war outdoes winning one anytime.

Granted Kennedy did not survive his first term in office, and the only reason his civil rights legislation ever passed was because of LBJ.

The main reason his civil rights legislation passed was because he was assassinated, and many politicians helped push it through because of their guilty consciences. The ugliness of segregation appearing on TV news helped that cause a great deal. The South looked terrible to the rest of the nation and much of the world.

Speaking of LBJ, it's very interesting the comments credited to JFK by his widow as to Jack Kennedy's thoughts about the possibility of Johnson becoming president in 1968.

An example would have been good here.
