Jackie Strickland(?)

Anybody remember this country jock, who was on WMC(AM) around 1980? I recall she was involved in a mugging or an accident, then returned to the air a few months later -- I remember her thanking Charlie Rich on the air for flowers he'd sent.

Anyway, I lived in the Memphis area (actually, more like east central Arkansas) for only three years and left shortly after all this took place. Did Jackie Strickland (I think that was her last name.) go on to a significant career in Memphis radio? Can anyone refresh my memory of the incident? The thread on classic country returning to 790 brought it to my mind for the first time in decades.

Jackie was stabbed in the parking lot of the station if I remember correctly. I haven't heard anything about her since the early 80's.

don't know about Jackie Strickland, but there was a WMC DJ named Dave Michaels who was beaten very badly and was in the hospital for several days as a "John Doe" because he was new in town and had no friends or family to notice his absence. Folks at WMC were wondering why he wasn't showing up for work, and got to checking around. Dave underwent several plastic surgeries, but his face was still disfigured. He left WMC and went to Cincinatti when they went Newstalk.
