25-54 adults, Jack is ranked #8, KLUV is #15 (at least that's why I got from
a Dallas competitor)

Me thinks the PD was busy becoming VP of JACK Programming at corporate and needs to spend some time in house...maybe?

Still #8 25-54 should keep the lights on during this trying time at JACK.

I don't see how JACK-FM, or any of the Variety Hits variations, have targeted satellite radio. I think it's more an attempt to draw in large numbers of P25-54 listeners, which in turn allows for higher ad rates to be charged, thus making the companies which run the format more profitable. If anything, the flips in New York, Chicago and Baltimore from oldies to JACK-FM have probably driven some people who like oldies over to satellite radio to get their preferred music choice.<P ID="signature">______________

AM oldies

And sadly, my friend, on AM. People who've been listening to their favorite Oldies on FM for 20 years WILL NOT move their listening to the AM band. They'll get satellite or play CDs before they switch their listening time to the "talk
band" of radio (which talk is largely now considered by those who are FM music listeners).

jack/personalities

I believe over time the JACK-generation stations will add personalities. Most are in start-up mode right now and it is very normal to kick-off jockless and let the music be the star.

I do not believe that can/will be permanent.

To be fair, WBUF has Howard Stern mornings. However, I do realize that it's because of contractual obligations, and it's not the same as having a live on-air personality in Buffalo.<P ID="signature">______________

Some "Jack" stations better get the ball rolling then, because they have been on the air for months and are still jockless.

if they really think about the whole concept, JACK without personalities really is like an iPod on shuffle-- WITH a bunch of commercials. So what their point of remaining jockless long-term would be is a mystery.

No disagreement here- but that's the way a lot of JACK stations are being sold to listeners- "we're like an iPod on shuffle". That was the point.
