Legendary Jacksonville engineer Dick Jones passed away last night.

I’ll post memorial information as it becomes available.

Bob

I had the pleasure and honor of working with Dick for six years. In addition to being an excellent "working" CE...Dick was a great friend and had a big heart! In my 34 years of Radio, Dick Jones was the only Engineer that I worked with that could "explain" complex engineering issues in terms that a dumb ass GM could comprehend! He will be greatly missed.............

Dick W.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00pm, Monday, July 13, 2009 at Hardage/Giddens, 1701 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville Beach Florida.

The family asks that, in lieu of flowers please make a donation to Hospice

I had the opportunity to meet Dick once years ago. He was very cordial and we had a nice chat about engineering.

Dick Jones was the epitome of "Old School" ... brilliant, professional and a textbook in his field. He had the unique talent of explaining even the most complex problem and it's solution to the most bone-headed jocks in the building ... this one included ... more than once.
I regret I never got to race my old Mustang against his Impala SS ... but we will one day.
Rest well Engineer Man ... rest well.

I worked with Dick for my entire time at Cox Radio (1997-2005). He was one of my favorite people there. He always explained things well, always made sure things worked, and always was good to talk to about engineering stuff.

Rest in peace, friend!
Brian V.
