Jacksonville Gone

Well..I had my crystal ball out when I wrote the comment re: Savannah. The TAMA owned stations in Jacksonville flipped to what seems to be some type of Rhythmic A/C as Coast 105.3/105.5. When I drove to work at 1:30pm they were SJ. When I left work at 9 they were whatever this is.

Went to website and looks different but still refers to Smooth Jazz. Personality pages still up but you can't listen live anymore. Wasn't this billed as BA's first full-time satellite affiliate? I'm waiting for "official" news from Carol Archer's R&R section (she may have left early for Easter break). Looks like another one down. But the sky is NOT falling! It'll be alright. BA has Goldstein. It's gonna be OK! I predict that BA will have new HD Radio affiliates left and right! :)

Maybe that's why they didn't get back to me about the song heard last Saturday. They were too busy getting ready to flip.

Lots of new rhythmic ACs in the past few months - I wonder why Portland didn't like theirs though.

This format is sinking faster than the Titanic! I don't think I've ever seen so many stations of one format flip in just about one month. Who's next? I'm going with Atlanta, Dayton, or Ocean City, although out of those three, I hope Ocean City hangs strong. Nice sounding Jones affiliate in a scenic part of the country ... been doing the format for 10 years, too.

Jax was a BA affiliate. Since they flipped sometime between 4pm..when I went on break from work.. and 9pm EST RnR probably had no info regarding it. Since the station had very few listeners under 55 and really not many listeners overall it won't impact the genre, although it is a BA Network defection so it may not show up in RnR. BA buys a lot of ads in RnR.

I remember last year when Kepler said he was going to totally turn this station around. Then it dropped 50% of its listeners. Now he's saying the same thing about Philadelphia.
