Jacksonville's 93.3 and 92.7 have split

Out on my lunch break, I heard "Hallelujah 92.7."

Stunt, or permanent (at least until the new buyer blows it up)?

Given WZAZ's numbers doing gospel for many years now, I could definitely see how this could work for now.

Whoa out of all the formats that dont have a presence in this market they pick this format...so lame........Jacksonville radio has lost a listener to the new Sunny 105.9 in Orlando where the signal comes in nice and clear down here in St. Augustine....OMG...Sunny in Orlando is great....Jacksonville needs to find a way to fix its stations up or otherwise you can say goodbye to me listening for a while.....the only other station may get my ears is Gator and that is it......

Not like Gospel on FM is a new thing in Jax, anyways.

Wasn't 92.7 the original home of WSVE before they moved it to 1280 (and that thing eventually got deleted)?

Considering the strength of the signal and the former 'tenants' being an Urban station I dont think its a bad move at all...Most Southeastern markets have a Gospel FM and if the next owners after CC stick with it I think it could be moderately successful...Yes it would have been great to have a new or different format but since 92.7 is in the state of flux its in no way a 'new' format was gonna be tried......Good luck to them....

....a little more on the earlier posts re: moving this signal to Hastings.....

It wasn't making sense that they would simply move it for no other reason than to 'de value' the station, although Clear Channel would almost be capable of anything.

But then it dawned on me: 93.3 is somewhat north-of-market (those of you that remember the days before it was licensed to Callahan, when it was a "St. Mary's GA" license, and even further still, when it was an "A" on 93.5).

Could it be the reason for the 92.7 Hastings move is so they can move 93.3 further into the Jax market (short spacing between 92.7 and 93.3 would require 92.7 to move South so 93.3 can move in)?

And, of course, would this allow Folkston's 92.5 to upgrade??

That's exactly what's gonna happen. 93.3 will move to Jacksonville as a C1. This might allow 92.5 to move a little bit...possibly with a similar signal as the current 93.3.
