25-54

2 WQIK - Big Show
3 WFYV - Lex n Terry (October only)
4 WJBT - Doug Banks
5 WAPE - Morning Zoo

Comments by station, in order of 12+ rank:

WOKV - Huge ratings for Rush and Hannity. Double digits in the teens for Limbaugh. Jacksonville's Morning News and the first hour of Boortz? #5 from 6a-10a. Is it power or something else?

WJBT - Getting great numbers from Doug Banks and making the most of it. If Cox ever gets a competitor in News/Talk, The Beat could easily be #1.

WSOL - Joyner's to V-101.5 what Banks is to Beat. Very consistent numbers over the last 16 months.

WQIK - Morning show pulled strong numbers in both Nov. & Dec. Middays and afternoon drive are both off. Barely made the top 5 25-54. What's up?

WEJZ - Lite 96.1 does better than last Fall. Still well off from normal and nowhere to be found in the top 5 25-54.

WAPE - Awsome performance. Best numbers in 15 months. Looks like Ape benefitted most from the lack of Lex n Terry.

WJGL - The Eagle was #3 this time last year. Now #7. Said it before: familiar music, burnt to a crisp.

WFYV - Rock 104.5's numbers have yet to fully show the loss of LnT. Last year, LnT had FYV #1. Now they're #7 in morning drive and dropping. Still, Rock is holding on OK in middays and afternoons.

WPLA - Back into the top 10 for Planet Radio, now on a 100,000 watt signal at 107.3. Listeners seem to like adjustment in music.

WFKS - Hanging in there, but still getting killed by the Big Ape. Much better numbers than last year.

WMXQ - The Point is up a little and had a big December.

WZAZ - Salem's AM gospel station is its best performer. Look below to see who they beat.

WBGB - The Promise/FM christian contemporary.

WGNE - FM country. Gator is likely to remain where it is.

WKQL - Cool does better than last Fall, but still #15.

WJSJ - Smooth jazz, weak signals.

WFXJ - 930 the Fox almost doubles its listening from last fall. Whoopteedoo. Still under a 2 share.

WROO - Rooster's on life support. Horrible numbers, plunging from 11th in the market last year to #18 this time around. Looks like Renda gets the credit.

Big deal- if the best WGNE can do is the same numbers as what have previously been a #2 country station used as a blocker, the future is not good.

Re: ratings wrapup

Okay OldiesCat this a new year and we are suppose to be thinking clearer things in the picture here. One I say Renda did pretty well with WGNE (Gator Country) for the last year considering the fact that they had only been in the Jax market for six months.

Now for WROO there is a major problem here. I think for one CC should go ahead and ditch the Rooster to the side of the road for trash pickup. Next I would use the 93.3 signal for something that could be worth while. Second I would find away to see what the table of alloments would allow in a power upgrade and see if that could happen (since there could be that chance of being a little room to increase power). Third what type of format would I go with? Well lets try the My format (70's 80's) that is having sucess over in Pensacola which is Classic Hits and really taking Cox's Eagle on. It could really create some competion here in Jax and start making the books look a bit like there is a fight going on for listners. Just my opinion.

Yeah, but the previous poster's implication was "WGNE is now ahead of WROO- time for a victory dance" and being #14 in the market is no reason for celebration. When they challenge WQIK, then get back to me.

As far as WROO, I agree that a fresh, new format would do them more good and the idea of a "My" or Variety Hits approach would be THE way to, IMHO.
