Jacksonville's Progressive Talk Radio Network

So tonight I turn on 105.7, and I hear Reggae, with a live DJ, phone calls, everything, billed as I-something (Irie?) 105.7.

Wow, this IS like "Talk Radio" 970 all over again! Now we need Bob Atkinson in sales, and Greg Larson pulling a shift at Wacko's.

(I'm uniquely qualified to joke about such things.)

Seriously, is there a program schedule anywhere on the web, or shall we scan 92.5/105.5/105.7 to hear what's next? Yeah, I know the argument about "local voices" and stuff, but it's hard to build a brand with "Talk" in the name if there's music half the time.

There's nothing wrong with mixing talk and music programming so long as the program schedule is consistent. A good example is if you have The John Smith Talk Show on weekdays from Noon to 3PM, make sure that The John Smith Show is on consistently every weekday between Noon and 3PM. If for some reason John Smith is unable to make a show, find a talk host replacement for the day and NEVER place "filler" music in the weekday Noon to 3PM time slot as this will only confuse the listeners, and it is also extremely inconsistent programming. If instead, for example, the station programming is talk during the weekdays with a weekend music schedule and its done the same way every week, this is perfectly acceptable consistent programming even though the weekly programming is a Music/Talk mix.

There are a lot of fringe music formats that could have used a shot at night..a younger skewing NAC (notice I specifically did not say "smooth jazz" because I'm not talking about grandfather music) but cool instrumentals from pop, jam band, rock, chill and CJazz and current vocals by people over 30 or AAA. This guy is a trip though, it's like listening to an R&B station in the 60s but with newer music.
