Jacky Bam Bam Back on WMMR

I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE REST OF YOU THINK, BUT JACKIE BAM BAM IS THE MOTHERFLIPPIN' MAN!!!

Seriously, Jackie's cool. He should replace Bill Weston, who's questionable at best.

actually it's a good thing ANY station is putting ANY live DJ on,especially overnight, in this economy no matter what they play.

response to the first thread posted here........
i was one of the over 100 applicants for the overnite position at wmmr.......who wouldn't want to work in a top 6 market with union benefits and a chance to work weekends (during the day) and be exposed in a major market......i've been out of 'radio' for three years and have 5 or 6 part time gigs to make ends meet (and no health benefits; i'm on my wife's plan and it's not the best).........i've worked extremely hard outside of broadcasting (and some of the work i've done in the last three years has physically and emotionally drained me)..........the overnite gig at wmmr would have been a chance to be creative and have some fun while bringing an income to my family........thanx to john arndt for recommending me for the position; i can't tell you how much i appreciate the personal recommendation for a job coveted by 100+ "idiots", like me......
response to onyx.......
i find it funny that you think a part time jock has a better pulse on the broadcasting business than an established major market program director (google bill weston's name and read up on his accomplishments)
if anything, at least someone 'in house' got the gig......good luck, jacky
i just hope i wasn't last on the list of the 100+ job seekers (second or last in this situation is bob seger 'still the same'

Onyx, I don't know who you're listening to, but he's one of the worst major market jocks I've heard in years. Even my 21 year old hard-rockin' son goes right for the button when he hears Jackie. And if Bill's such a dope in your estimation, what does it say about the hiring of his 'new' overnighter?....

I never called Bill a "dope," as you said, but "questionable at best," to be specific.

Furthermore, don't be so sensitive, Bill. You've got the highest-rated rock morning show and enough in the budget to hire an overnighter. Congrats. Still, I attribute that more to the overall sorry state of radio, where playing it safe and sticking to formula puts you ahead of the pack.

I like Jackie because he's fun, unpretentious (sp?), and in touch with the city, not just a disembodied voice that prattles on about nothing.

Say what you want about his air talent, but Jacky is one of the nicest dudes to meet and/or work with and represent a station and is thoroughly deserving of having the gig. He'll represent the station well and P1s don't care who is behind the mic anyways, and I don't think other listeners will be critiquing too much at 3am.

Jacky is a GREAT guy. And he could be working on the cure for cancer. But it doesn't change the fact he's not a good jock. Is he a great strip club DJ? Top notch!!!!

And in typical radio fashion, MMR wasted the time of over 100 people, to hire a guy that was in the building and was probably going to get the job before the ad was posted. Typical RADIO BS! I guess PD's don't have to find and develop talent anymore, cause there aren't any more jobs left to be had.

Are you telling me out of a 100 applicants... Jacky Bam Bam was the best one?
