Jag*** Of The Week is Back

Caught a little bit of Stan Savran this morning and he is back to handing
out a Jag*** Of The Week Award.

During his latest gig at 1250, the Disney brass had prevailed on him to
change it to the @#%$&^ Of The Week Award. Guess CC has much
looser Standards and Practices?

would you like to be called one by somebody substantially younger?

Well, using %^s for all 6 letters makes it possible that he's saying something a lot worse than jagoff. Dumb, Disney, Dumb!

The point is you'd like to think someone who's been in broadcasting for 40 years could come up with something better.

I would've thought someone as well respected as Savran wouldn't have to use such a gimmick.

You should hear what Angelo Cataldi on WIP in Philadelphia does on his show. It's called the "Boner of the Day." Complete with descending slide whistle sfx, and everything. Hey, who needs Pandora, right?

That's the high art portion of his program. Rumor has it he'll take his act to public television after Congress defunds CPB.

if anyone is interested the first winner was NY Islanders GM Garth Snow.
Richly deserved in my humble opinion. Plus he had Guy on briefly to explain
that Jag***Of The Week was all his idea (trying to prop-up his stint with
Eddie Crow, actually predates Stan on the radio side)

I heard it. And one person called in and nominated Neil O'Donnell.

I mean, come on!

I'm a loyal Savran listener. I love Guy Junker. But sports talk hosts doing "Geek of the Week" is the equivlent of "Two for Tuesdays" on a music station.

Then again, it could be worse. It could be the "Jim Penna Name Game."

What would you guys suggest for something new and different as a sports talk feature?
I have noticed that Mike and Mike are now doing off-season NFL two-a-days, probably
because ESPN hates hockey and there is only so much basketball you can cover.

This feature always seems to be around in one form or another because hardly a
day goes by when somebody in the world of sports is not doing something jerky.

My initial point was that I was a bit surprised at CC accepting the terminology in
the post-wardrobe malfunction era.

I'll agree with you on that Freddy. However, standards at CC were never consistent and now they are run by dumb people, so what do you expect? They're content is definitely dumbing down. Starts at the top. ;)

Shame to the audiences they serve on their respective stations. These people deserve better and I'd expect something better from Stan. He normally is more intelligent than to use a gimmick like that.

I meant to write "Shame FOR the audiences they serve on their respective stations."
