I have to be honest, I've been listening to the show for the first time, not bad. With that said, he's got to have some sort of following in the Dallas area - like an Imus did in New York for several years - in order to anchor the lineup of a sports-talk radio station. To me, it sounds out of place on a station that's going to break down the upcoming Cowboys matchup a few hours later. But I'm not even in the same time zone, so what do I know.

I don't think his orientation has any effect on who listens. I've been listening since shortly after they started over there, and if I didn't KNOW ahead of time he was gay, it's far from obvious (other than when they specifically mention his man or something related, of course). Hell, from the comments and topics brought up, Russ's show seemed "gayer" than Jagger, with all the references to gay sex acts and things.

I don't think listeners care about a hosts orientation. Either they can entertain and inform or they can't.
