Jagger out? RJ Choppy in?

Good move?

Where will Jagger land? Mornings on the Eagle with Russ back in PM drive? Yeah, I doubt it too.

Jagger's name is still on the website, how'd did you hear about this?

If true, this is not a good move. RJ Choppy will not add or keep the few listeners they have. What these stations don't get is that it's about talent. And they lack it. Promoting board ops and producers to on air talent just doesn't work.

Choppy's a good egg. He deserves a chance. I think he will succeed. Good luck to him.

Ya, if he can leave his politics out of the mix.

But congrats to Jagger; who'da dreamed he'd hung on this long?

This is coming from Barry Horn:

"ESPN 103.3 man for all seasons R.J. Choppy is heading do the dial to work morning drive at The Fan. He starts in a couple of weeks. This apparently signals the end for Jagger, a victim of the format switch..."

Choppy is just another East coast blowhard. He was almost unlistenable when I used to listen to him and Greggo. I doubt much has changed.

The Musers aren't nervous....

KESN should be worried, because they are slowly going to slip into 3rd place for sports talk. I think RAGE has something...just not enough to make me a P1. Going local is always the best thing.

I feel bad for Henson seeing as the rumor of the "cursed chair" started after Barsky went to the morning show and subsequently was let go not long after.

Henson went from the afternoon drive with him and then Gavin Dawson to the morning show with Jagger and that's when the rumors began.

As for Choppy, I think he's going to do well as the new morning guy.

The only thing "cursed" about that morning show was Jagger. He couldn't get it done with Mondo and Dean, and then in a desperation move, they put Barsky in there to try to help Jagger.Although Barsky was the only listenable talent on that morning show, it was clear that he was more of a non sports talent than a sports guy. Because Jagger wasn't a sports guy either, it made for a non sports show. Enter Henson who is a real sports talent and an experienced one at that. But even , he couldn't save it either. So I guess the station has decided to start from scratch and go all sports. Maybe this is something The Fan should have done from day one of the format flip from Hot Talk to Sports.

Here's another question: Do you think that Cumulus will put the Lil Ticket on a strong FM signal when they take over Citadel? Imagine what the Ticket numbers will look like if they do...

east coast--maybe but blowhard no.. i've worked with him and he will do well

PD

I haven't worked with him, and have absolutely zero personal relationship with the guy. I'm just one of the 15 eye-rolling listeners he had when he did nights at ESPN.

He'll do about as well as all the REST of the East coast blowhards that have failed in this market.

East coast sounding guys don't work here unless it's syndicated ( Mike and Mike), and they're ratings don't come close to the Musers. Rhyner, Corby, Danny, George Dunham on the Ticket, Galloway on ESPN all sound like the market. As far as RJ goes, I don't think it really matters at this point. Maybe he can adopt a drawl between now and when he starts. The Fan needs to put someone in mornings who is from here. How about RJ and Greggo ? Thay actually could work.

No because when they takeover Citadel they will own two country stations, The Wolf and KSCS. You would figure one of those would change formats, so why not put the Ticket on one of those signals ?

They could try to put it on 96.7. But if and when this buyout it complete, most of the changes will be the support staff and not on-air product/personnel.
