James Corden set to host 2016 Tony Awards

Affable Late Late Show host and Tony winner James Corden will lead the 70th annual Tony Awards, which CBS will telecast live from New York’s Beacon Theatre on June 12 from 8-11 PM. This will be Corden’s first time hosting the Tonys; he won the best actor in a play Tony in 2012 for his performance in One Man, Two Guvnors.

“I’m absolutely thrilled to be hosting the Tony awards,” Corden said in the announcement Tuesday morning from co-producers The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing. “Both times I’ve worked on Broadway have been amongst the happiest times of my professional life. I consider it a huge honor to be asked to host such an incredible night. It’s gonna be fun, I can’t wait to dust off my tap shoes!”
