James T. Harris

Why does he still have a job? His show is terrible. His "producer" does most of the talking and they try to be funny, but aren't. I'm not saying that I could do better, but I am saying that you would think that a major market station would have major market talent.

Well, for 18 years, he's been doin' what he's been doin' and people seem to be listening. 🤷‍♂️

He hosts The Conservative Circus on KFYI. I had to look him up, since this station has been an irrelevancy to me since Barry Young retired.

"The Conservative Circus with James T. Harris" is simulcast weekday mornings on KFYI 550 Phoenix and on KNST 790 Tucson, both iHeart talk stations.

BTW, KFYI, which is on AM only, is #3 in the latest Phoenix ratings. Meanwhile talk rival KTAR-FM is on a 100,000 watt FM signal, yet is #24.

KFYI does very well ratings wise and I believe Harris and Lewis are responsible for that. Even after Rush's passing and despite being on AM, KFYI posts respectable numbers. I don't have access to demos or how much of that is TSL but number three in the market says they are doing something right. I worked there for a number of years and have obseved that KFYI finds a way to survive.

Pretty sure KFYI is #3 in Phoenix according to Nielsen if I remember correctly. Very impressive considering that #2 tends to change hands and #1 is consistently KESZ, which appeals to a much broader audience than KFYI.

KFYI is the only station in town to comment/inform on state and local politics. KToAsterR doesn't. Nor does the Park Central/Las Vegas Republic/USA Today. Just the USA Today dreck columnists.

Basically, KNST and KFYI share the same line up 24/7 but keep separate identities. If it wasn't for the traffic and weather, Tucson would probably never get mentioned.

James T. was here in the 'Dirty T' for years with his show, before it moved to the north side of the Gila River...several years ago.
