On occasion, I like to go back through my music collection to see if there are any albums floating around that perhaps I did not give either the proper love or attention to when they were originally released. I came across James Vargas' self-titled release from 2004, and decided to give it a cover-to-cover listen for old times' sake. Man, am I glad that I did. "Lasting Impression" was a favorite down-tempo cut of mine from the old Jones Radio Network Smooth Jazz days, but there a number of tunes from this CD that I either overlooked or perhaps did not grab me on first listen 6 years ago. If you have this one laying around or burried in box somewhere, it's worth to dig it up and give it another listen. Why this guy has not made more music since is a mystery to me. I love his sound.
