Jamie Kellner of Fox, WB

Jamie Kellner, the man who founded two TV networks, Fox and the WB, has died at 77:

It seemed improbable, but Fox came about when Metromedia sold its heritage major market broadcasting assets.

Rupert Murdoch bought 20th Century Fox in 1985, and used it as a springboard to buy TV stations from Metromedia and others, and used those major market stations as the foundation for the Fox TV Network. He hired a young Jamie Kellner to run it.
