Jammin' 105.9

What's up with this station? Are they still programmed by CC? And why are they doing a double format. I hate it that at 7 every night they turn into 93.3. I really like the 80's and early 90's pop/rnb they play during the day...

Because of the CC merger or privatization or whatever it is, CC is being forced to sell 105.9 so they got rid of the staff a while ago and moved the control room into a small voice tracking room. Jay Shannon, who is the PD of KHFI and who has lost most of his programming responsibilities on KHFI because of the new "Premium Choice" initiative (ha ha) is programming the music on 105.9 and using it as a blocker to pull audience from the stations that compete with KHFI....93.3 being the chief amoung them.

KHFI only has premium choice on overnights, and some on the weekends.

Its pretty much M-F, 6am to midnight, still being programmed by Jay Shannon

a lot of Clear Channel statiosn have gone syndicated on overnights and weekends. That wasnt Jay Shannons doing. KXXM in San Antonio has done the same.

Here's an idea:

How about Jammin' actually GOING AFTER Hot93.3? Honestly, Hot has no competition and I could go the rest of my life without ever hearing the Real McCoy ever, ever again.

And the afternoon...Secrest followed by Rick Astley? It gives me nightmares.

I wish someone would give Hot Competition. Honestly I almost never listen to Hot any more.

Da Bomb Internet Radio is broadcasting from Austin, TX!

There's a new urban station in town that is broadcasting only via the internet right now. It has been the best kept secret for a few months, and is really the only competition to Hot as of current. You can find Da Bomb online at bombnation.com. Below I have attached a small sample of what was played over the past 30 minutes or so...

12:00 PM Bizzy Body by Paul Wall
12:04 PM I Run by Slim Thug
12:08 PM Please Excuse My Hands
12:12 PM Don't Forget About Me by TI
12:16 PM Take off by Young Dro
12:20 PM You Complete Me by Keyshia Cole
12:24 PM Wetter by Twista
12:27 PM Every Girl In The World by Drake
12:32 PM Put On by Young Jeezy
12:37 PM Day 'N' Nite by Kid Cudi

For a direct link to listen now, click here>>> http://173.1.134.50:8000/listen.ogg.m3u

Ha! I think I posted something about The Bomb maybe about a month ago. I thought they were a Rhythmic station though? Definitely would be a competitor to Hot 93.3, but most people won't be able to listen to internet radio in their cars. I listen to the Bomb in my car (they've got instructions about how to do it on their website) and it sounds great. Too bad they're not on FM. It's the best hip-hop station around, so I guess I'll keep streaming in the meantime...

Re: Da Bomb Internet Radio is broadcasting from Austin, TX!

Will check it out. We have a HDRadio at work, but if I listen to R&B or hiphop I'll go online and listen to either KBXX or KBBT. To bad KZFM does not stream out of Corpus.

I think da Bomb sounds a lot like KBXX, but with better sound quality! ;D

Back in the CBS Radio Beat 104.3 days, their morning man told me they had seriously thought about calling that station ''Da Bomb'' before they settled on ''The Beat.''

Man, I miss the Beat 104.3 days, I thought that was the best station to come into the Austin Market in a long time. They were so unique and exciting too. I wish they would come back and compete against Hot 93.3. I miss the ol' school mixshow on Sundays, The Beat Street Breakdown mixshow they had on Friday and Saturday Nights, and the "Street Flavas" they had back in '04 playing the underground Hip-Hop music. Those were the days. Can't forget about the DJ's that made 104.3 special. Meredith & Rick The Stick, Maui, BJ The DJ, Boy Loco & Lyric, Snoop Daniels, Nino Brown, Nina Chantele, Lady K, Tazz Daddy, Swerve The World Famous, and you can't forget about the mixers; DJ 2DQ, DJ Southpaw, DJ Skillz, DJ LL, Cut Creator, DJ LX, DJ Skooby, etc.... The Beat 104.3 June 1998-July 19, 2004 as KQBT. Then January 21, 2005 to February 21, 2007 before going to 104.9 as KXBT.
