Jammin' 107-7 Question

Does anyone know when Jammin' moved their city of license to Bradford, RI? Was this motivated, in part, by the rumored desire to move into the Providence market? I realize that Bradford is right on the CT border. But the change is curious.

Yes, it was. For now, it's tower is located in CT, but I've contacted their station, and they said they wanted to move to the WVEI tower with a null towards Boston, and a slight null towards the Cape, and intending for 37.5 KW. Their commercials have drastically changed focus. A good portion of them are targeted directly at South County, and a recent DJ who left the station thanked listeners in Connecticut, Rhode Island, Long Island and even Massachusetts. Their legal ID has made Bradford almost sound like Wickford, and a recent station appearance was near Narragansett Pier. The change happened in November, and the intended change was made specifically to attract listeners in Rhode Island that can't receive Hot 106, and more importantly, bring a second competitor to 92 Pro FM.

Very interesting. In listening to the station, however, they still identify themselves as "Connecticut's Hottest Jams' Station."

Are there any hold-ups in terms of moving to the WVEI tower? Might it still happen?

I spend some time in Narragansett, and Jammin's signal isn't great there. On that part of the dial, WFCC, out of the Cape on 107.5, is far stronger. In fact, on many days, the Cape signals dominate the airwaves in South County.

Talk about tropo....
According to FCCdata, WWRX should still be getting better reception on 107.7. It has 50 Dbu over Narragansett, and they are not promoting themselves to Rhode Island yet, but plenty of spots and appearances geared directly at Southwestern RI. Currently they are more focused on competing with Q105. On the other hand, are they really still a Rhythmic CHR? Here's the playlist from a recent hour:
Justin Timberlake - Can't Stop The Feeling
11:54 Ariana Grande - Into You
11:50 Sia/Sean Paul - Cheap Thrills**
11:46 The Weeknd - In The Night
11:44 DJ Khaled/Drake - For Free
11:33 Rihanna - Needed Me
11:24 Wale - My PYT
11:21 Major Lazer/DJ Snake - Lean On
11:21 - CART_VT_STAB_0010 JAMMIN STAB
11:18 Fifth Harmony/Fetty Wap - All In My Head (Flex)
11:14 Flo Rida - GDFR
11:10 Kiiara - Gold
11:06 Drake - Controlla
11:03 Mike Posner - I Took A Pill In Ibiza

Perhaps it is tropo, but during the time I've spend in Narragansett all summer - which has been quite a lot - I can't think of a day in which Jammin' 107-7's signal approaches that of 107.5 WFCC out of Cape Cod.

I think Jammin' can still be called a Rhythmic CHR. They don't seem to be playing One Direction, for example, or any of the Alternative-leaning music that can be heard on other CHR/Pop stations. The format would be a winner in the Providence market, in my opinion, should they have a decent signal.

I have heard Ride by Twenty One Pilots, which went number one on Alternative, so there. Though, the recent Suicide Squad soundtrack song, and their more rhythmic approach than other rap artists, plus their lone top 40 rhythmic hit-- "Stressed Out"-- made it clear that a reggae-esque song like Ride might make it.
