JAMMIN 94-1 flipping ?

Word comes today from several prospective radio clients that they were swayed from placing several important BUYS on Jammin 94-1, KTFM because inside sources at BMP told them the station will flip soon to a SPANISH FORMAT.

Has anyone heard anything else ?

wooooooooooooooooooooooooooow! what a waste of those beautiful legendary calls to be thrown onto a spanish station. booooooooooooooooo

Yup, I agree. Unfortunately, the rumor is true.

However, do we really need another Spanish format? Why not work on the mess at hand- La Ley 95.7, Digital 104.1 and La Luz 103.1(SE Rim Shot) before flipping a station that's doing somewhat okay?

When will the For Sale sign go up at BMP Radio? ???

Yeah it really is a shame. BMP wasted all that money to aquire the KTFM calls and really didnt do a whole lot with them. I think if Power 106.7 never came into the market, KTFM would have gone rhythmic. BMP has said on many occasions they are wanting to break into the Rhythmic scene. Well, least thats what I have heard.

Correction- I've heard the same rumor earlier today.

When BMP acquired 102.7 they should have put KTFM back on 102.7 and move Jack to 94.1.

I agree.

I don't see why they would flip due to how good they are doing in the ratings

It seems like the new head of BMP is looking to make his mark. The shuffling of the deck at KTSA, followed by this rumor. It's harder to noticeably tweak the Jack format, so changes within the format there will be subtle.

Maybe Jammin's not doing well in the demos he wants to be doing well in? Maybe their cumes are down?

I think Jammin's personality-driven take on the format and too-small playlist is wearing thin. But I'm not part of the station's female target.

From my understanding the morning show is barely in the Top 10. And overall the station is doing so so. In what area do see this station doing well? Keep in mind, this is there 2nd best signal on the FM side.

I've said this before- the only time to listen to Jammin 94.1 is during the weekend. The playlist is expanded with a good mix 80's Freestyle, R&B and Hip Hop.

But what other spanish format would they do? They already have their core spanish stations on the air in San Antonio (Ley, Digital, Norteno, etc)? Unless they put La Lupe on FM. They aren't doing Hip-Hop and country since the rumor is spanish.

If they are going spanish let them create a NEW and inproved flavor for SA..

Going trully latin involves bringing music other than TexMex, bring in some latin, latin jazz, salsa, bachata and reggeton.

There is a wide audience here waiting for something new and if you can't read the writing on the wall, just leave everything the way it was and go back to your desk..

PS Rick & Henri weren't the greatest but they carried the morning quite admirably
