JAMMIN' 98.3

I noticed that WJMR had an excellent Winter book, the best ratings that station has ever had. Any thoughts on what they are doing to pull those numbers?

Playing adult R&B music directed toward the black community. They're really the only FM station in town doing it. V100 is all hip hop for the kids, and has heavy competition from KISS FM.

The only stations really competing with WJMR are AM talk stations and a smooth jazz station. It definitely fills a niche.

Funny thing is, this is only a little 4900 watt Class A station.

When V100 killed its local quiet storm show, many listeners moved over to Jammin's "Moments in Love" show. Also, nearly all of the jocks on Jammin' use to work at V100 back in the day. Many of the listeners who have outgrown V100's format have switched to Jammin' and can relate to the Jammin' jocks they use to hear on V100.

Jammin' is also more visible in the community than V100. I think Jammin' organized an event called "the Gathering," and they also did the "Christmas Wish" promotion.

Just my opinion, but I think CC has hurt V100. The company cut the station's local quiet storm show, cut the local Friday/Saturday night mix show, shrunk the playlist, cut staff and made it sound just like every other CC urban station. Bring back the "V100 Jams the Most Variety" days.

I still can't believe V-100 cut Doug Banks.

They still do The Quiet Storm but its voice tracked from Chicago.

I miss the Classic Jams Traffic Jam they used to do at 5:00

I agree. CC has reduced V100 to nothing. I used to live in Milwaukee and V100 was a solid urban in the CC stable. The VT stinks. I didn't realize they got rid of the Phat 4 mix show. I know I was listening back in March and heard Spank Buda's show, which I know is VT. Why? Did they get rid of the synidated mix show too? Jammin' on the other hand isn't the best UAC I've heard but they've been steady and consistent. I would like to see them get rid of the slow jams show on Saturday night and replace it with something more upbeat but it must be paying dividends.

Is Jammin' still doing their old-school hip-hop show on Saturdays?
