As of This Week::

Jammin Tweeks it's Sound........

"True Old School and Smooth R&B"

I like the Sounder of the Call Letters, So far they are adding in more Cuts, Similiar to when the Old KDJM back in 2003 was Tweeked as "Jammin Oldies & More"

I don't see any D.J.s on their Website?? Is CHA & Slim still there ??? ???

It's to bad This format isnt on a better Signal........

Thought's

I do not like the change, although I understand it. Jammin' had a very unique sound and played a lot of "obscure" or "lost hits". You'll be hard pressed to find a terrestrial radio station willing to play dance-heavy freestyle/r&b & pop from the 70s, 80s & 90s. The variety was a bit too wide for most (Marvin Gaye followed by New Kids On The Block?? - I loved it, but I'm sure most did not)

The "new" sound of Jammin leans more cookie cutter r&b. Sounds exactly like the Urban Ac in my market (Cleveland) and like many others around the country.

Since Jammin' moved away from their dance/old school format, I feel no shame in plugging a show that I'm debuting tomorrow on a Tune In station that I help program. The OLD SCHOOL TAKEOVER is jammin's old format in a one hour show that runs Monday-Friday at 11am mt. You'll find the station (NrrRadio) on the Tune In app (keyword: NRR) or online at NrrRadio.fm

Here is what is going on over there at Jammin 101.5 direct from ALLACCESS.COM:

http://www.allaccess.com/net-news/archive/story/107742/kjhm-morphs-into-rhythmic-ac

MAX MEDIA Urban Oldies KJHM (JAMMIN' 101.5)/DENVER has modified its direction into a Rhythmic AC with the new moniker "JAMMIN' 101.5, TRUE OLD SCHOOL, SMOOTH R&B," under the direction of veteran programmer MIKE MARINO who continues to run BITXCHANGE. MARIA "CHA CHA" CHAVEZ remains PD/morning personality.

[EDIT]

Now wherever everone else is, it seems like Cha cha remained but where is everyone else? Good question. I am going to call that station to find out later today when they open. I hate to think that Max Media was dumb enough to fire those that they just hired. Talk about stupidity.

Give it a few years it will return back to Rhythmic Oldies just like most of them that tried either Urban AC or Rhythmic AC. The old format had more appeal to diverse listeners. This wont work even on a full power signal.

Now how do you know that it won't work? Maybe with this new PD he could make it work and make it profitable? He could make it work.

This market is Comprised of Mostly Hispanic and White and African American, similar to Fresno, CA & San Diego, CA & Albequrque, NM. I think Max Media needs to bring in a Good Morning show and also have "Specialty Mix Shows on Friday or Saturday, Jammin Got boring and you need to do something especially on the weekends to keep it Festive.

Look at KQOD or KMGV they have the Rhythmic Oldies formats and they also have Mix shows on the Weekends. Too Much Slow R&B may not work here in Denver due to the Demographics.

My mistake I was going on what Radioinsight posted. Its not Urban AC. No currents at all so far. It sounds like KHHT in LA a few years ago with more mid 2000's added. Yes Mike knows his stuff and for the sales dept he can make the station solid but its the signal thats keeping them behind. Personally I liked the old mix. It was something different and fun. The reason why I said it will tweak again to the old format becuase most of the stations on the westcoast that tried late 90's and 2000's music like KHYL in Sacramento and KISQ in San Francisco have shifted back to Rhythmic Oldies. Maybe Denver will be different.

Who is the imaging guy? Sounds good.

Are you kidding me? IMHO the imaging guy and imaging overall sounds horrible. So far, I am liking the change in music but the imaging needs to change. No jingles. Just bland, non-upbeat sweepers that make Jammin' sound bland and boring. Cha Cha, Joe Corona (new midday guy), Gina Lee Fuentes and SLiM will be back on air tomorrow 7/5 so I hope we get a shift in the imaging and the overall presentation and sound on Jammin'.

Anything they put on 101.5 won't work because of their signal issues. If they moved further west, it would do a lot better. But, like most Rhythmic Oldies stations, they shift to more current product because the novelty wares off. To Jammin, I'll listen regardless instead of whining about it!

Keep in mind that while most people can't receive the station outside of their car radios, there are people with smartphones with the TuneIn Radio who can listen to the station that way. If they don't like the station, they'll switch to another station just like they would on a car radio

In short, reception on a radio doesn't matter in this mad, mad, mad, mad, mad smartphone world we live in now

JMO.....

Cheers & 73 :D
