There's no way anyone could say that this kind of station would stuck at all. This kind of station would dominate bar-none.

Aaaaaaaaaa.......No
There's a reason that there is one less urban station in New York. And even Cumulus is not that dumb.

92.3, 96.3, 100.3, 103.5 and 105.1

Five reasons why that's not happening. Next?

Flush 94.7

A format a day keeps the naggers away! Every day, be sure to tune in as we spin the wheel and play a different format a day, whether it be Country, Rock Alternative, EDM, Top 40, Smooth Jazz, Beautiful Music, Reggaeton, Salsa, you name it!

As much as I would love for someone to try a stunt featuring, say, all game-show music (including the works of Edd Kalehoff, Hal Hidey, Bob Cobert, Mort Garson, and Stan Worth), I think that what Cumulus is doing with 94.7 is better than what Greater Media just did in Boston.

how so? there playing a simulcast of another station in the market how is this exciting? none the less you have the boring morning team discussing this and making fun of people on there fb for publicity sake!

I like the throwback part of it. Adds a little something different to the dial. Speaking of throwback, what ever happened to the classic hip hop channel on Hot 97 HD2? I thought that was a good station, should have tried that on a main FM. Actually now that I think of it all the HD's in NY could use a format change. I used to enjoy Rock Nation, smooth jazz and TONY but they're all gone. Now there is 2 alternative HD 2's. Philly is a city that has some good HD 2 channels, plenty of selection. Maybe NY should copy them? unless this HD thing is phasing out.

Garbage 94.7

A format which you pretty much get anywhere else, just the same boring overplayed songs on a dull stale overhyped frequency. Expect more of your favorite songs from OTHER stations which already play your favorite songs. A format in which is somehow superior than the non commercial stations trying to cater to those displaced listeners. A format which is totally imitated and always duplicated. It doesn't matter what we put on that channel, it will be overhyped garbage and people will accept it because its on FM, and even though they cry about being displaced listeners they will be too lazy to get their music from other sources and depend on FM. ;D

I LOVE the all-game show music idea. Someone over at WFMU should pick that idea up and build an episode of a show around it.

Geeogia Tech's radio station (WREK) did a show that was all-video game music. I'm not sure if they still do it now though...

LOL, that is EXACTLY what we just got as a new format here in Boston, Hot 96.9...

I mean that is EXACTLY what they play. Seriously..

I love the station here in Boston btw. Not sure why it wouldn't work in NYC either?

Exactly. Let's do "WKTU2"! Either WYNY country, WQCD smooth jazz, or WRXP alternative will be the way to go. If WABC-AM ends up on 94.7 it will not be good (shh)

The chances of anyone doing smooth jazz on a major facility in a major market today are like temperatures in Nome in January... well below zero.

Which is the sad thing about it. 98% of people think that smooth jazz is elevator/doctor's office music. No, it's NOT. (Well, except Kenny G) These artists take time to record and play great music. And some smooth jazz is damn good! I listen to K279BP (103.7) Albuquerque, NM, which is 103.7 the Oasis. Two Kenny G songs out of the entire playlist. They market it as a "paradise" station - no mention of Smooth Jazz at all! The ratings are surprisingly, fairly good.
