Jan. 2014 Scoreboard for Large Market Traditional Soft AC Stations

I thought I'd look at the Traditional Soft AC stations in large markets, now that there are three. All are doing great in this first ratings period after Christmas...

#11 Miami...WFEZ...#3
#17 San Diego...KIFM...#5
#18 Tampa...WDUV...#1

While WFEZ and KIFM do well in the 25-54 demo, David Eduardo tells us much of WDUV's audience is older. The station has a better than two point lead over Tampa's #2 station, WWRM, which coincidentally is also a Cox-owned AC, although with a more standard AC format. And it isn't just a few people leaving WDUV on all day. The Dove was tops in Cume as well as 6+ numbers in Tampa.

During the holidays, KIFM was #2 in San Diego, just behind the big Country station, KSON. Usually CBS AC KYXY is San Diego's top station for Christmas but this year the Holiday music was split three ways between KIFM, KYXY and Clear Channel's Rhythmic AC KSSX, with KIFM coming out as the market's top station for Bing Crosby and Burl Ives' Holiday hits.
