Jan Dean passed away

A friend just emailed me that we lost Tulsa radio legend Jan Dean about an hour ago. She had been battling cancer for some time. She was a bigger than life radio personality, but more so, a great friend to all that crossed her path. She lived the radio life, and a life well lived. I'm sure some of you remember her from "Bed Check" back in the day on K107.

Looks like the funeral is going to be Friday at 12pm. Rose Funeral Home and Cemetery.

Jan was a truly special person. Not many people like her in life. For those that knew her, you should feel blessed to have been able to be a part of her enthusiasm and zest for life.

She will be missed.

A very sad day for Tulsa Radio. She obviously inspired many people.

Somehow I never believed that we'd lose her to this.

I wanted the good guys to win this time. She deserved to win, if anyone did.

I was very sad to hear about Jan. Her family will be in our prayers.

I never met Jan but I do remember hearing her. Very sad indeed. :( May she rest in peace.

She was a great lady. She gave me my first shot in radio at 94.1 The Hawk. I have missed working with her...and now this. I am at a loss for words really. Tulsa radio has lost an icon. :'(

my thoughts go out to her family. Tulsa Radio will not be the same :'(

My condolences to her family and freinds. I listened to "bedcheck" almost every night back in the 80's on Kay-107. She was a class DJ.

I never met Jan but I did get to talk with her once on the phone. She was & always will be a Tulsa radio icon & she will be missed. She's a part of the fabric that makes up Tulsa radio. I also listened to her on K107 when I was a kid...'Bed Check' was my favorite!

My prayers to her friends & family. Today will be a tough day for them.

Unfortunately, I only knew Jan Dean as a competitor. However, she was a competitor I very much respected. I extend my sincerest condolences to Jan's friends, family and co-workers past and present.
