Why does everyone bash Jan Jeffries and the company he works for?

An employee of one of his stations who is a regular poster and only spews negativity makes it easy to?

lol!! I'm giving you a standing ovation from my office ;D

First, I am not one of his employees and I credit Jan on building a successful career. But he IS an easy target to bash because of his playlist dictatorship to all of his stations. Just a few examples that make people scratch their head. None of his "CHRs" (and I use that term loosely) are on Secondhand Serenade. He's never played Metro Station or anything by Boys Like Girls. At its height on the chart he played Lollipop only 7-8 times a week. At his stations, including those in Alabama and Michigan, he played All Summer Long only 2-3 times a day. Oh, but he plays EVERYTHING by Rob Thomas and/or Matchbox 20. I'm sure he has his reasons when determining music, but many in the industry don't get it.

The Cumulus CHRs are usually conservative; late on songs and heavy on the recurrents and gold, and all songs are added company wide by Jan Jeffries. Many of them are dayparted to be Hot ACs in the day (which DOES work in some markets, but not all) and won't play Kardinal Offishall/Akon "Dangerous" (#4 nationally) until after 6pm. All of them are playing OAR "Shattered" and Duffy "Warwick Avenue."

And demands pop mixes of country records. That's why he never played "Before He Cheats." Which was a #1 smash at pop (if you discount the Rhythm guys and Cumulus).

Yes, the Cumulus stations may be late on adds but Jan is a good guy to work for. Treats his managers and talent with respect. I have nothing but good things to say about him and I have worked for him at a large market CHR and a major market CHR.

Don't know the man.

Suprised to hear this week WZYP playing American Boy with Estelle at 2 in the afternoon. Last night, the station finally added Secondhand Seranade. I didn't recognize the song until the guy said Fall For You in the chorous.
