Wkls surprises me... they had a strong month meanwhile Rock 100 is getting beat by 680 The Fan. I don't have all the demo breakdowns. Q100 was solid too.

WKLS certainly did do well in January. The January PPM looked a lot more like the diary results, with V-103 back to #1, WSB-AM #2 and Kiss 104.1 at #3.
What do you think is the problem with Rock 100.5? Is it the format (does 80's-heavy AOR just not do it anymore?), the 10K signal, competition from satellite and MP3s, or something else?
Of course, it is one of the weakest FM signals in the metro, particularly for an intowner and not a rimshot.

If the Bull is circling the drain, and Rock 100 has 80% of the Bull's cume, how can Rock 100 be anything but a total failure? The Regular Guys are the Retro Guys, 'cause their best days are long behind 'em.
Hell, Rock 100's got less cume than Dave.

I don't think Rock 100.5's signal is its main problem. In most markets, that signal would be considered good. In its Q100 days, the 100.5 cume was really big, but its time spent listening was small. That indicated the signal could attract virtually as many listeners as anyone else, but that listeners who tuned in weren't sticking around. The 100.5 signal does have a slight null in Gwinnett.
Another interesting feature is that The River and True Oldies are almost neck to neck with shares at 3.4 and 3.2, respectively. Don't know if it is Spiff or its 5,000 song playlist. However, True Oldies can only go as far as its ratings can go, and their next share for February may decline to its pre-December 2008 levels.
Meanwhile, Clear Channel simply does not get it. 94.9 is a failed product right now, and they still think that they could do something and spend all their money with that radio station. Changing that station to country one week before Christmas was probably the stupidest decision ever made knowing that 94.9 was pretty much mostly an easy listening/ soft AC station for most of its time.
Here's to hope for a Christmas present for the new decade next year. Flip 94.9.
