January 2016 Boston Radio Ratings.

http://ratings.****************/cgi-bin/rol.exe/arb013

Big changes.
WROR #1
WXKS #2
WBZ FM #3.

I assume Both WBZ FM and WEEI FM will be down some next book now that the Patriots are done.

WODS coming on strong.

What is happening down the bottom of the book ?
Are these stations not payed up or is there some new policy about non commercial stations for 2016 ?

Looking at other markets with ratings out today, some noncomms have their "beauty pageant" ratings available, some don't. Must've been a decision made at GBH, BU and UMass to either not pay or take their numbers "for insiders' eyes only." I also notice CBS Radio taking all of its stations "out of sight" in Washington, DC. Interesting...

I've read that the non-commercial stations have to re-up and a few have not had their applications processed. They should be back in the next month. A few commercial stations also are missing in some large markets, such as CBS Sports station WXYT-FM in Detroit.

Several stations bounced back after the Christmas music on WMJX ended. And, interestingly, country is way down. Is that a cultural shift?

Or, could it be that what is being passed off as any semblance of even '80s “real country”—or even “country rock”—has been lost?

Exhibit A: “House Party”.

Other than maybe a couple guitar/banjo “twangs” buried in the arrangement, does that in any way, shape or form sound like anything resembling even '80s “country rock”? Bon Joviʼs “Dead Or Alive” (which never came anywhere near a country station) sounds like a '50s hillbilly twanger classic in comparison!
