Idaho January 2026 in SW Idaho

Well, no changes programming wise that I can tell.

KMHR (AM) 950 translator on 98.3 has finally applied for the location they moved to last fall, after getting kicked out of a U S Forest Service site for not having a use permit! 950 audio's still messed up, relaying the 98.3 audio.

That's about it!

Boise had the best fireworks show in the Nation on New Year's Eve. Kudos to the non-stop coverage at KTVB. Too bad about the windows blown out and the girl that got injured. Glad she's out of the hospital. Perhaps don't fire off a ton of TNT at 12:00:00 next year?

I'll be back in the Boise area during early April for a few days to visit church friends, and possibly head back up the Payette canyon to Cascade. I still try and stream KTSY whenever I can. I miss listening to them. The rest of the dial is pretty meh in the city, but I did enjoy the soft rock mix on Magic 97.9, and occasional stops at KRVB 94.9 The River.

Multiple possibilities.

1 - KBOI-AM goes all-syndicated talk while KBOI-FM is all-local talk with Red Eye Radio at night.
2 - KBOI-AM flips to ESPN Radio, KBOI FM becomes the exclusive news/talk home. Seahawks games are then heard every week on 670 (instead of selected games only), and both simulcast Boise State games.
3 - After over 70 years, the 670 signal goes silent and is turned in to the FCC. (Which could enable KMZQ Las Vegas to go to 25KW 24/7...)

KIDO has really narrowed the ratings gap between them and KBOI. The latest available show just a 0.4 share separating the two. Maybe just some programming changes or adjustments. But Cumulus is in so much debt, and the way they have been shutting down AM's.....

I thought that KBOI moved to 670 from 950 in the 70's, making it about 50 years, not 70.

950 was, in the early 60's, one of the easiest ID logs for me in Cleveland.... along with 1270 in Twin Falls and the two Lewistown stations.

Oooo this is fun watching all the b.s. predictions!

KBOI moved to 670 May 20th 1968 at 8 am with 50 kw non-directional day, 25 kw directional night.
Night power upped to 50 kw Feb 20th 1982.

KMZQ has to also protect Simi Valley, Denver, and Chicago, and the Mexican 670 allocation (even if it is off the air) so no real upgrade available.

I've heard all three of those 670s you mentioned (KIRN / KLTT / WSCR). WSCR can float under KBOI at night when conditions are excellent. Now if only I could snag Dillingham AK or Hilo HI.
How do y'all decide which Seahawks games to broadcast? Many times last season I got the score via the Gridiron Gameday show on 95.3 KTIK while 93.1 was airing a real estate or money show. I think I only heard a handful of Seahawks games on KBOI last season.
Since so many Californians have moved up there, could one of the sports outlets make a dollar or two joining the 49ers, Rams, or Chargers networks?

Seahawks is KBOI AM only. Except maybe playoffs on FM also.

OK, that's why. My old Hyundai Santa Fe had no working AM radio. My Buick does, at least, but it's noisy and highly attenuated between 1200-1600khz except for locals and a handful of strong skywavers (KFBK, KRKO etc.)
I'd like to know how to fix that so it can be a real AM powerhouse.

Well, it's Feb. 2,...Im listening to KBOI, no noticeable difference, or mention of any changes.

One thing I noticed, on the website there are two separate streams, one for FM 93.1, and the other is for AM 670 (not working). But, that may be for when they separate for sports PBP.
