January 5: This Day in TV History

Just a few random TV related events that happened on January 5 (slow day). Discuss or comment as you please……

1942: Journalist Charlie Rose is born in Henderson, North Carolina.

1948: Actor Ted Lange (The Love Boat) is born in Oakland, California.

1953: Actress Pamela Sue Martin (The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries, Dynasty) is born in Westport, Connecticut.

1970: All My Children premieres on ABC.

1982: Character actor and voice artist Hans Conried (Make Room for Daddy, Dudley Do-Right, Hoppity Hooper) dies in Burbank, California, aged 64. (Now, honestly, who didn’t love this guy?)

(Just a little featurette I hope to do as time permits. It’s an entirely random selection based on a quick Net search, and is not meant to be comprehensive. So, don’t post nasty messages about “you forgot THIS” or “how could you not mention THAT?” Do so, and I’ll just take my keyboard and go home…..) ;)

...The Monkees? (Especially after he cusses them out in the outtake segment of Season 2 Episode 19?)...

That's an elite bunch, the soaps that have made it to the 40-year
mark and beyond: "Guiding Light," "As The World Turns," "General
Hospital," "Days Of Our Lives," "One Life To Live," and now "All My
Children." ("Young And The Restless" won't hit that milestone until
2013.) "GL" is gone, however; "ATWT" is going; and I wonder how
many of the others will survive this decade. (Prediction: "GH" will
be the third and last soap to make it to the 50-year mark; I don't
even think "Y&R" will make it to 50, given the way things are going
in Soapland.)

Another World surely would have made it into it's 40s had a certain Peacock left well enough alone.
