January numbers

All is back to normal now that the Christmas music has faded away.... DVE back to #1....

Strangely, Q92.9 had a really good book.... coupled with Bob's #4 showing, Steel city's doing OK right now....

104.7 continues to have a very low cume... that does not help the Pirates (nor will they likely help 104.7)....

B94 had the 5th-highest cume in the market..... (behind DVE, 3WS, Bob and Kiss)...

WKVE showed? Someone with a meter caught some of the equipment tests?

I would expect Q92.9 and Bob would continue to do well as the number of FM stations
who are actually playing music continues to shrink.

Interesting to note that in AM drive the #5 slot is WDUQ with a 5.3 Now that Public Radio numbers are in the standard book. Who knew!

That's possible, but 103.1 has had the WKVE call letters for almost a year, even as it continues to simulcast WANB-AM.
So what you're probably seeing is somebody with a meter in Greene County, listening to the regular WANB programming.

Heard Quinn talking this morning about the lastest ratings, says his show is number two in adults 25-54 and number one in women 25-54. Very surprising about the women, just wondered why there hadn't been more discussion about that fact here on the message board. Of course it doesn't suprise me taking into consideration the political bent of most of the posters on here.
I guess if it's bad news we just don't discuss it huh?
I predict that WPGB will beat KDKA in just a few more books.
So when's that liberal talk station going to come the air in Pittsburgh and give 104.7 some competition?

No, actually a lot of us are not involved in day-to-day operations at stations and don't have access to those numbers. Can't discuss something we don't know about (but yes, it's surprising).

As much as it would not be my cup of tea personally, I think a decent signal like 660 or 1080 could actually make a go of it. I'd also see it as an alternative if 970 gives up on sports. Having said that, I don't actually see it as competition for 104.7 (ratings around the country just don't bear that out, save for a few areas like Portland and Seattle), but rather as something that could put a non-entity like 660 on the map to a degree.

They'll need to put up some billboards.

I have no more interest in liberal talk on the radio than I do in conservative talk. In Tampa, I don't listen to WFLA or WMNF. What I want is "classic hits" and oldies with live jocks, jingles, and lots of reverb

I have to agree with MsMusic radio. I have the feeling that there is a market and demographic out there that would enjoy what 770 and 620 is trying to do. The only issue I have......and despite my enjoyment and dedication to listening to 770 is.....Frankie Day. I love what he and the Station Progammers are doing....however friends and I actually count how many time he can say his own name during each and every break. Last summer we actually made up a game that every time he said his own name we had to take a drink....just like back in College. Frankie always speaks of his knowledge of music and putting music together for his shows. That is terrific! Therefore, What would be wrong with letting Frankie do the musical programing and let Clark Ingram do more live jockeying? Also, several of the guys on 620 sound plenty good as well. Their vocal delivery, coupled with the nostialgic jingles on both stations really capture what 60's an 70's Boss radio sounded like....and what made it so great. Certainly this is just my opinion...... and I certainly am not posting here to knock Frankie Day. I am going to continue to listen and enjoy each station....particulary as the signal improves and is lengthened as Spring and Summer approach. Clark Ingram....for what it's worth, my family, neighbors and I truly enjoyed and looked forward to the Sunday evening shows on 620 in the Summer when you chose a week/year and played the top hits of that particular time period and would throw in some snipets of info (news, pop culture, sports, etc.) regarding that particular time period.

I guess as far as major stations go, the closest to this are the CBS stations in NYC, Detroit, LA, Philly, and Tampa. It is a shame WZPT can't flip to classic hits as WWSW has that already and BOB is somewhat like that also. Maybe Clarke can get a major FM ::)

Yes, that floored me too. Political talk tends to be male driven. The fact that they are #1 with women in that group is a subject worthy
of further analysis. Particularly since Pittsburgh is such blue-dog Democrat territory. They have always done well but when they break through like this, something is going on.

(-insert PPM conspiracy theory here-)

Just a thought,
But ould the fan do to KDKA what 104.7 did to DVE, that is, The Fan will take some listeners from DVE causing KD to reassume the #1 spott?

Pittsburgh proper, maybe. Outside the city limits, not so much. They may be registered Democrat because their parents were, but Quinn is saying things they want to hear.

#1 is #1, but I wonder what the actual share and cume numbers were.... it might be that the FM music dial is so scattered and is sharing so many listeners flipping between songs, that he might be #1 by virtue of a small number of listeners with long time spent listening... 104.7's cume is very low, can't imagine it's much different in AM drive...

That's very suspicious. I wonder if he was speaking only of morning talk shows and not of all radio. In other words, he gets 10 women ages 25-54 while KDKA gets 6 and Mike and Mike get 4. Or he may have been talking about just his station.

Just now did I catch your comments. Thank you! I did about 30 of those countdowns, and it's good to know I wasn't an
audience of one. :)
