JANUARY PPM RATINGS OUT NOW

Interesting that the Bull slipped, being as how they were on such a roll of late. Rodney said in his blog that they have been slipping since Scott Lindy left, however, I'm not sure I understand the reason why? The imaging and on air staff is the same. The music hasn't changed that much, so what gives? I really was hoping that they would eventually surpass Kicks (I just love rooting for the underdog).

Going back to WPZE.....I think it is very unusual for a Gospel station to be in third place.
They must have some great talent there or SOMETHING. Of the top 10 markets there
are 3 cities where Gospel is #14 in all 3 (Dallas, Houston, Washington DC). That's it.
I know we're in the Bible Belt, but taking it to #3 almost seems like a miracle.

In Montgomery, Clear Channel's "Urban Gospel" HALLELUJAH 104.3 is the #1 station with a 12.6 overall. Same format in Memphis owned by Clear Channel, HALLELUJAH 95.7 is 4th place 12+.

#1 here in Jackson. Memphis' Hallelujah is similar to Praise in that they don't have the best signal out there, but does best in the central core. Of course, Memphis isn't quite as spread out as Atlanta is, so that works. To me, it's what Praise has been able to do on the signal they have is what's the most amazing.

They had surpassed Kicks in the demos that count. I'm a little puzzled also.

102.5 is 3,000 watts but at around 450 feet - they are the equivalent to 6,000 watts at 300 feet.

Taylorengineering is right. I had not looked at WPZE's specs in a few years. When the first got licensed it was as a 3000 watt at 300 meters. They have upgraded at some point.

This station has been waiting for a license for years and years. I was manager of the campus class D station at Southern Tech (now Southern Poly) which was on 102.5 in 1980. At that point we knew about the license fight that was going on for 102.5 and that we would have to move the station to another frequency some day. I just could not believe that it took decades for a resolution to the license fight.

I expext Radio - One woul give the corporate left testicle for 3KW of 102.5 at 300 meters. Assumng you could get a 300 meter tower prroved anywhere around Ben Hill where it's located. (You can't)
How about 300 feet?

A standard class A is supposed to be 6000 watts ERP at 100 meters which is 328 feet. I am way off base today.... and yes... they would LOVE that tower to be 300 meters. ;D

BarryATL, I have to be careful too, I still think in feet, but I can do kilometers thanks to of The Department of Defense. Back in the day when I started (1970 pre 80-90) an engineer told meet what we now call an “A” was 3KW @300 ft. and warned about the conversion to metric, kind of like Y 2 K. In the early 1970’s they going to put “all” road signs in Kilometers. Everybody was going metric whether we liked it of not. The US Government went “metric” but most people (including me) did not.
