Any thoughts? Seemed to be a bit different

I don't have thoughts, more like questions:

1. What on earth is CBS Tampa doing?
2. With a poorly programmed and under resourced Urban like the Beat doing so well and all of its stations save RBQ doing so poorly, why on earth would'nt they flip SJT Urban AC? For that matter, since Urban AC's tend to out perform both Churbans and Urban Mainstreams in the PPM world, (not to mention the fact that WILD has been sucking wind since the Beat came on the scene) why don't they send Wild back to 98-7 and flip it's current frequency to Urban AC?

Inquiring minds want to know...

Jazz did better on 94.1 so I bet Urban AC would be a success

I'm of the belief that since Hot arrived, Wild has taken a bigger hit than FLZ. Play is doing zip although Mix seems to now be trending down. Gotta give credit to Cox though. They used to be the dog in this market but seemed to have turned things around... just looking at overall numbers. Which of course don't really tell the true story.

I couldn’t agree more. The idea of keeping 98.7 in its current format now borders on programming incompetence. What are the smart people at CBS thinking? Surely the new Market Manager who is familiar with the rating and revenue value of an urban adult from his time in West Palm Beach must want to make a change…

A Jack or Rewind format would hurt Q105 more than any other station in the market. Why would CBS do that?

I think they should upgrade 1010's sports programming and simulcast it on 98.7. CBS is doing extremely well with FM sports talk in other markets.

I still want Urban AC. WTMP is gone and WDUV is the only station playing Urban oldies at all. I don't think it would hurt Q105, but I am not an expert

What is the point of putting sports on this frequency? Urban Adult has much stronger revenue potential for the market...this is a format waiting for someone smart enough to do it right. And that was never done on poor signal AM and FM WTMP!

And let the Church say Amen! I couldn't imagine what the benefit of putting a second rated sports station on an FM frequency would be. It would be one thing if they had an AM Sports/talk station that was ruling the roost. Then giving them an FM boost might mean something. But thinking that 1010 will beat the Sports Animal if it had an FM signal is fool hearty in my opinion. Rating and revenue success is waiting for CBS in Urban AC. Will they have the guts to pull the trigger on this? Not likely. The missing element for Urban radio in Tampa seems to be the fact that no one with the ability to launch one seems to have respect for the Urban dollar. I thought Cox might have done it on the basis of their success in Orlando with Star but they chose to blow up one of their (what is it 3? 4?) soccer mom stations and create a station for furure soccer moms. I wonder if they will ever realize the goal of besting FLZ in the format. When Kane gets firing on all fronts, he's gonna be tough to beat. I heard his show recently in DC and he has a tight team and a good product. GAME on!
